i have a runcore 128gb ssd inside mine and the boot is only like 15 seconds... not that i cold boot all that often

Stupid question, perhaps, but how are some of you getting these times to tenths or even hundredths of a second?

Inaccurately would be my guess.

Inaccurately? umm how bout using the iPhone stopwatch. when i hit stop that is what came up. is that what it is "exactly?" probably not to the tenth of a second but i who cares?!?! when i hit stop that is what it showed, so i wrote it down.

its more that the accuracy of a human beings reactions would provide an error of =/- 0.1 or more.

So there's an inherent inaccuracy in the method used to time it.

Hence why my times were averages of several runs. reduces the error percentage

About 1 minute, 2.2 Santa Rosa with WD Scorpio Blue 500GB.

I noticed VMware is mentioned a few times as very influential, does this mean having it installed and set up with a boot-camp partition alone would have an effect or does one have to set it up to load something at the beginning?

12 seconds (brand new macbook pro 2.66ghz 4gb ram etcetc) had it for about a week now.

Actually, it is possible. That's how fast mine booted up when I first got it. I was totally speechless when my new macbook pro booted up so quickly compared to my windows XP/Vista PC. I took the liberty to time it and the MBP booted up in 12 - 13 seconds and ready to work.

45 ish, varies quite a bit!
320GB WD scorpio.
Then again, I reboot my computer once a month or something.
