MMM... Toasty

Ive seen mine as low as 64 degrees and as high as 146 (playing Return to Castle Wolfenstein...matter fact any game). Right now its sitting at a "cool" 106.7 degrees. Also depends on the room temp, as the bottom of the comp acts as a HUGE heatsink.

My 12" 1GHz PowerBook runs between 105 and 125 normally. I've seen it get to 143 though (scary!). My FW800 dual 1.25GHz G4 usually sits at about 122.

mines goes up to 67 degrees C, so i guess thats around 160 degrees F? thats playing starcraft in a really really intensive game

my computer used to run even cooler than the aforementioned 80° before i did some upgrading... i was thinking of looking into additional cooling solutions, but i guess i'm not running that hot after all.

Just for comparison,

My AMD Athlon XP 1600+ overclocked to 1.75Ghz runs at between 35C idle and 60C full load.

I got a massive heatsink and a very loud fan (which sucks). I am about ready to get a nice quiet computer since I have to sleep in the same room as my computer.

Might be intensive for you, but Starcraft isn't very intensive as far as the CPU's concerned :)
ok why does the CPU only get that hot when i play starcraft? otherwise it get to around 64-65 degrees C in other games

This computer is based on the 'PowerPC 7450' processor. The CPU manufacturer has disabled the Thermal Assist Unit on this chip, so it is not possible to report temperature information.

A feature check executed by the Mach kernel additionally confirms that this processor is not capable of returning temperature values.

A scan of your hardware indicates that there seems to be no alternative temperature sensor available that can communicate with the operating system.

Unfortunately, your hardware does not support temperature monitoring so this application cannot be used.
I got the same thing

Scary? I get up to 143°F regularly. Just run Seti@home or just about any FPS game, and it gets very warm.

Hmm, can't seem to upload my pic, Safari and Firebird hang. Well, http://homepage.mac.com/counterfit/pics/temp.jpg

This small app doesn;t work on my g3 B&W. It saus my hardware is the problem or there is something scr*wed in the software (that narrows it down! :D ). Anyway, a while back you could there was a post which gave several commands in Terminal. One was for the heat sensor. Does anyone know which command that was? If I rember correctly from the old days in os 9 my temperature fo my B&W 400 was only 23 degrees celsius idle. 28 at the most with intensive things! Now that's coolness!

Heres what i have for a Dual 2.5GHZ. What does the other Dual 2.5's have??

This app doesn't seem to work on my G3 CPU. It gives me my hard drive temperature, which is 123.8ºF (51ºC). ThermographX also doesn't work. I used to use an app called ThermoInDock, but it broke with the 10.3.x update. I think my 400 MHz G3 used to get to 100ºF+ under heavy load.

My G4 PB gets to 57+ Celsius and I get a bit concerned it might be shortening the machines lifespan. Where can I find the safe zone operating temperatures?

Dual 1GHz MDD, 2Gig memory, 3 internal hard drives, running Folding 24/7.

Right now it's at 58.6 degrees C (137.5 F). Though, I've modified the fans from spec to reduce noise and I sleep my machine if the room temperature gets too warm---I've seen my machine go up to 64 degrees C.

My Powerbook is 64°C/147°C, and it has never been any warmer than this.
(I'm running thermograph x every time i'm doing heavy work on it..)
Have done some heavy worksloads the last few hours (compiling)...

The fan is only running on low....
The GPU has reached 82°C/179°F !!!! ouch thats hot...

Now five minuttes after i finished the work the cpu is down to 50°C/121°F, i'm running Mozilla, calculator and itunes (without visualizing) on dual screens.

my cpu (2.4ghz celeron w/ 400mhz fsb) is currently 66C and all ive done is woken it up from sleep and then browsed mr for about 5min. it's running on batteries and it seems to run cooler that way...im running a norton av scan so i'll check the temp after that

my dual cube got up to 80 degree's c once when a copper plate had very bad contact with the die.

now it idles at 30 degree's and peaks at 40 :p

I see 40C to 55C. Sometimes, 60C if I do rendering, etc. Now, who is talking about 12" PowerBooks being "hotter" than the 15" and 17" ones? I might add a screen shot later....doing important stuff right now...
