clothes are clothes to me. Don't have a favourite brand. I have the concentration span of a bee when it comes to clothes shopping

Like most others, I don't have favourite brands. I suppose my favourite brands are those that I have purchased from, while any brand that I haven't bought before is not a favourite brand, since they have never made something I considered buying. (????)

Anyway, here are some brands that I must have recently purchased from:

Uniqlo Japan, Uniqlo HK, Mälmo, Dunderdon, Country Road, Ben Sherman, Vanishing Elephant, Takeo Kikuchi, H&M, Club Monaco, Filson, Resterods.
Reebok, Hummel, Patrick, Clarks, Fluevogs, Sanuks.
Edwin, 5CM, Lee, Banana Republic.
Arc'teryx, Macpac, The North Face.

The only time where brand matters (for whatever reason) is for socks and underpants. When I think about stuff to cover my ass and feet, I think of Uniqlo. :p Dress/work shirts? Indochino made-to-order fit me perfectly (3 for $200, I think), and either Uniqlo or G2000 fitted shirts. Stuff from Asia just happens to fit, probably because the number of obese/fat people are low.

I only really wear one brand of clothes which is Superdry available from a shop called cult clothing. Love pretty much everything they do although their sizes are usually pretty small even in larger sizes. Not sure if you guys in the states have it out there yet, but I heard towards the end of last year that the company was making a huge push to get stateside.

No idea if they would deliver to the states either, but if anyone is interested check out www.cult.co.uk

Other brands I like:

Uniqlo
J. Crew
Steven Alan
Opening Ceremony
Rachel Comey (my favorite men's shoes ATM)
Dries van Noten
Surface To Air
Comme des Garcons

The sad reality is I travel to NYC and stock up on a bunch of good basics at Uniqlo, and augment those with signature pieces from the other, much more expensive designers / stores. Wish I could afford to buy all my clothing at Opening Ceremony, but not quite yet...

shoes - nike but open to adidas
jeans - lucky brand jeans
casual tops & shorts - american eagle, hollister, abercrombie
athletic stuff- under amour
business attire - banana republic (my suit is brooks brothers )
jackets - north face (i have too many :p)

Lucky Brand Jeans are amazing, but the only place I can get them in Montreal sell them for $200+... I stick with my Jack and Jones/H&M Jeans. Great fit and price!

+1 for Zara, wish they had a store anywhere nearby :(

I favor brands that i can go into their store any random day and find an XS or a S size (H&M, Zara, Express, Armani Exchange).

I hate Hollister but their jeans fit so well and seem to be on sale all the time.

As for shoes i like puma a lot. Aldo has some nice styles for dress shoes but their quality sucks.

Edit: I'd like to add that ANYTHING that has a brand name plastered all over it in big bold letters is extremely ugly.

Fancy.

(I had a coat-check person tell me the other day: "We get three kinds of coats in here: H&M, American Apparel, and fancy." LOL, they keep good track of the 10% that are "fancy" and know what brand and who they go with...)

Thank God for Off Fifth, Nordstrom Rack, and department store credit cards. Yes, there is a reason for having a department store credit card: for example, the "$20 off on $50 purchase", etc. coupons from Macy's. That's 40%. Yes, you have to suffer through having them split your bill up into separate purchases (one coupon per purchase) while the people behind you grumble.

Good for those "fancies". :)

Vans is my favorite. I have some friends that work at the vans store here so I get some pretty nice clothes and shoes at good prices. Shhhhhhh dont tell anybody...

Work clothes: Banana Republic, especially since they have petite sizes since I'm pretty short

Jeans: Rock & Republic

Everything else: (not a brand, but my favorite store to shop at) Urban Outfitters

Every day clothing:

Coogi

Artfull dodger

Aeropostal

Volcom (very few collections)

Lacost (only polo)

Marc Ecko

ecko unld.

For work/special events:

Hugo Boss

Alfani

Michael Korrs

Kalvin Klein

American Eagle pants fit me right, so them.

I like New Balance shoes, so I have about 10 pair.

Otherwise, I dunno... casual clothes.

But I agree, Im 6' tall and weight 160Lb, and I used to wear XL shirts! A few years ago my Friends had an intervention and made me start buying Mediums shirts, and they look much better, I even think some of them are to big. I just bought two small shirts from Express, and I love the way they fit!

I'm very similar. I'm also 6' tall, weighing around 145lb and I always used to buy XL shirts, they were all I'd wear. Then, a few months ago, I got a couple of tight fitting t-shirts from the men section of New Look, size medium, and at first I didn't like them, didn't think they suited me but I got them anyway since my sister encouraged me to. I think they're great now, one of my favourite shirts to wear, and I got another one for christmas (not the same but quite similar)(oddly enough, it was a size small but it's bigger than the size mediums?:p) and last week I bought a white short sleeved one too. I still wear baggy tshirts, as i like the whole baggy style and baggy jeans are a must with me (anything baggy enough to wear joggers underneath for the ultimate comfort!), but I guess I've lost enough excess flab that I feel comfortable in tighter fitting shirts now. /ramble

As for brands, my favourite brand would have to be Shifty Skate Gear. They make awesome hoodys and tshirts. For jeans I just get whatever from Primark as they generally look ok and they're cheap enough. Shoes from TKMaxx as the branded ones cost about £20 usually, my current shoes are DC, Element and Adio so as long as they look good and are less than £30 then TKMaxx it is. I don't stick to brands though, if it looks good and I can afford it I'll buy it.

well im shocked nobody has said affliction yet. their jeans are amazing. but my closet is solid american eagle. i probably own everything in the store (exaggeration but not by much, i do own every pair of jeans there) and i like ralph lauren and for shoes it would be sperrys and toms

Gap Jeans
Gap button down shirts
Adidas or New Balance for sneakers
Boston for work shoes
Hoodies and t-shirts from wherever.
Work shirts are generally Van Husen or on occasion Ralph Lauren. Same applies to ties.
Suits, as long as they fit and look good. Not very brand loyal here.

I buy from eBay all the time. Why pay $185 for a sweater when you can pay $40 :D

You can get some good finds at the Salvation Army. Why buy it for $40 when you can buy it for $2? :D

I have different brands I go to for different things. For example, I love Abercrombie & Fitch sweaters (nice fit, good quality), but don't the rest of their stuff. They're made well and they're warm and they fit my body type very comfortably. Not to mention they're stylish. (including a $198 lambswool sweater I picked up for $3 ...!!!). Their buttons down overshirts aren't bad either.

I really like Gap jeans and T-shirts, both wear like iron and are incredibly comfy, but I wouldn't give you $0.02 for most of the rest of their stuff.

I like Airwalk and Vans for shoes, but I'm not nearly as picky about that, long as they fit right and are new.

I'm picky. And if you shop around, you get great stuff very cheap. $15 for a pair of Gap jeans on their discount rack beats a $9 pair from Wally World that last 1/10 as long.

My top three would be (in no particular order):

Lacoste
Polo/Ralph Lauren
Bananan Republic

My favorite Department stores (in order) are:

Saks Fifth
Neiman Marcus
Bergdorf Goodman (only when I'm in NYC though)

Don

I usually wear Penguin and Hollister polo's, as they have a smaller fit. Converse shoes are always on my feet. As for pants/jeans, I wear Dior and 7 for all mankind. I stick with Dior and Jil Sander ties as well. Dress shirts include Theory, Club Monaco and Penguin.

RVCA or WESC probably. :)

WeSC is dope. We ARE the superlative conspiracy!

I am tall and skinny with terribly long arms, so my options are limited.

I have found that Express clothes fit my frame the best, with their dress/work shirts having the longest sleeves while not being big and billowy in the chest areas.

1) meh
2) i tend to go shirtless for most hours of the day so i really only have bathing suits on
3) i often find myself wearing just nike gear and not on purpose
4) i dont like any clothes that have the name or brand of the company on it (such as the polo player on a collared shirt). its hard sometimes to do this but i try.
5) i often will just wear a white or black t-shirt and thats that.

i also look like this when i am up for it.

OK, I suppose if I had to only shop at one store from here to eternity (and not a department store with multiple labels) it would be Banana Republic. Pretty good fit, reasonable cost, not the highest quality but not bad.

Here's what I aspire to, however:

Shoes: Vass, Edward Green
Suits: Isaia, Borelli
Shirts: Borelli, Brioni
Sweaters: anything Loro Piana (though Brunello Cucinelli makes some amazing stuff)
Pants: Incotex
