Hackers
Cruel Intentions 1(the others SUCKED)
Y tu mama tambien
Motorcycle Diaries

You listed two of my favorites as well, and ones most people probably haven't seen.... "Y Tu Mama" and "Motorcycle Diaries". Gael Garcia Bernal is an excellent actor (he's in both films).

Other than those, my top-rated films would include A Clockwork Orange, Taxi Driver, Midnight Cowboy and The Graduate.

Never saw the actual film, but I did see a web site somewhere that had a run-through of the film. 12 Monkeys was really good, though.
If you have Netflix or the like and can rent it, give it a shot. its only around 50mins long, and is a real testament to film (especially late 60's film)!

Oh, another few i remembered...Run Lola Run, Platoon, Requiem for a Dream, Pi.

I Am Sam (I love the story, because it shows that you don't have to have an IQ of 180 to be a good father, and also I am a huge Beatles fan and they make a lot of Beatles references throughout the movie)
Man On The Moon (I enjoy classic television, and Taxi is one my favorite sitcoms, so I had an interested in Andy Kaufman and had a basic background of his work and such when the movie came out. I love the era that the movie takes place in and I respected Andy Kaufman's work. He shocked his audience, and that is the kind of thing that I love doing.)
Rainman (This movie came out the year I was born and so it held some novelty with me, when I watched it, I really enjoyed it)
Forrest Gump (Maybe this movie should be on the top of my list, again it takes place in the era that I love, and the movie has a lot of history in it. The music was great and it was just funny how Forrest was always in the right place at the right time, and hey they made a reference to Apple Computer )
Wizard Of Oz (This is my dad's favorite movie so I have watched it many times while growing up, and I have seen it so many times that it has really grown on me)
Yellow Submarine (Animated Beatles movie, so I loved the movie and I loved all the vivid colors and such)
Nothing So Strange (This was a movie about the assassination of Bill Gates and a group "Citizens For Truth" that was trying to find out the truth of Bill Gates assassination, and the wrong guy was charged with the assassination. Interesting movie, even if I am not a Bill Gates fan it ranked with those "nerdy" movies)
The Assassination of Richard Nixon (I love stories that are based on true stories and this movie was. Sean Penn did a fab job acting like he did in "I Am Sam", and the movie reminded me much of the 1976 movie "Taxi Driver" which is on my favorites list aswell.)
A Clockwork Orange (I have never read the book, but I am planning on doing so. My dad showed the movie to be some time ago and I enjoyed it. I haven't seen it since, but I would certainly like to see it again. I love movies on that strange level.. and really this movie showed what may just be in the works. Gangs of kids going around raping and murdering and stirring up all kinds of "strack")
Taxi Driver (I watched this 1976 film one night for the first time on Showtime, I have sene it a few times since then and I really liked it. I am a Rober De Niro fan, and I liked the plot in the movie)
The Godfather (Only natural that this is one of my favorite movies since if falls under the favorites of many people. This movie placed some of the most talented actors together for a very good story)
The Godfather Part II (Of course continues the story, I still like the first one better. I have NEVER seen the third one)
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band ("A splendid time is guaranteed for all" but first "lets introduce the one and only billy shears" It was a great movie and being the Beatles fan I am I really enjoyed it. Steve Martin singing "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" was certainly a show. The guy who played "Mean Mr. Mustard" did a fine job and of course there was "Strawberry Fields" and "Lucky in the sky with Diamonds" and the "Sun King")
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (I have read the book twice and I have seen the movie several times. I read the book before I ever watched the movie, so naturally I like the book better than the movie. However, I thought the movie was a very good production and funny. Jack Nicholson is also one of my favorite actors)
American Graffiti (I loved the music and again it is right in the era that I love. Great movie indeed and worth watching)
Gone With The Wind (I love classic movies, what more can I say? )
The Last Picture Show (Took place in Rural Texas it was one of the best Black and White movies I have ever seen. Right up with "Hud")
Pirates Of The Silicon Valley (What self respecting nerd doesn't like this movie?) Airplane (Plenty of laughing to be done here)
The Net (Another one of those nerd movies)
Fiddler on the Roof (I recently watched the movie for the first time and I really liked it. I don't know what about it that I really liked I just really liked it)
The God Who Wasn't There (great documentary that really questions the Christian religion. I am an agnostic fellow, and I enjoyed this movie)

Saving Private Ryan.

I don't watch that many movies, but this one really caught me.

Somehow I really seem to feel a part of 'em.. Hard to explaine, but this movie made me "feel" the minds of those soldiers during WW II....

The first two Alien films

Yeah, I should add the first one to my list as well, although Aliens is my favorite of the series....

Glad to see we agree on this one... ;)

The Matrix (the original, not the sequels)

As we do on this one as well... ;)

The Lord of the Rings trilogy, extended editions. They're basically one big movie. The most well crafted cinema I've seen in a long time.

Then it's a toss-up between Aliens and The Abyss. ;)

Glad to see you approve~Shard~, but beware – with such similar tastes people will end up thinking we're the same person. And you know how paranoid some people get about that sort of thing around here... :p

Quite true. But then again, one of our other favorite characters can be the same person, yet different at the same time, so perhaps that is the answer... ;)
