Schindler's List hits one of my very top spots and it seems like sacrilege to even acknowledge another movie in the same sentence, so I'll start a new one.

Since we own over 350 movies I have to break it up by Genre to even start...

Comedy : Chasing Amy, Kevin Smith's Best movie, although I like all the others so far...

Horror/Thriller : Se7en, with honorable mentions to Donnie Darko, The 6th Sense and Stir of Echoes

Drama : American Beauty and LA Confidential are high up here but there are so many it's hard to decide.

Fantasy : LOTR : ROTK, followed closely by the other two LOTRs

SciFi : Empire Strikes Back, with honorable mentions to The Matrix, Serenity, the rest of the Star Wars movies (minus Eps 1 and 2)

Western : Unforgiven, Tombstone is good as well.

Action : Any of the Indiana Jones movies...

Family : Anything from Pixar...

Unclassifiable : Pirates of the Caribbean : Curse of the Black Pearl, comedy?, Action?, Drama?, Family?..... can never really decide where to file this one....

Terminator2 - Judgement Day. Cameron is my favorite!

Yep, one of my favorite directors as well. Never noticed the "Caution 9-11" thing before though, that's kinda cool in a morbid way... ;)

Only one mention for Requiem for a Dream, so far? That movie has got to be the most gut-wrenching story ever put to film. After watching it, I felt like I had been hit by a truck. I recommened this movie to everyone, college freshman and up.

and OH MY GOD your signature is the most annoying thing ever
(I love your honesty;) )

I normally don't care for movies. That's a whole 2 hours that I have to be still and focus on one thing. However, there is one movie that is special enough to maintain my interest...
Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Love it love it love it.

Anyone remember the original "Walking Tall" with Joe Don Baker? Just a side note, but I was through Adamsville, TN recently and ate at "Pusser's Restaurant". Got to talk with Buford Pusser's daughter for a while and got her to sign a "Walking Tall" club for my son. :) No biggie, but for some reason, I really liked that movie, though I doubt if anyone in here remembers it, saw it (1973), or was even born yet.

Shawshank Redemption - Movie currently on loan. No pictures :(

And no I didn't snap these pictures just for this post. I've been cataloging my DVD and VHS collection because at 500+ movies I'm sitting on a small fortune. God forbid the house burns. I want it insured. Note that I threw this together in about an hour. Realisticly there are a ton of other movies in the running. T2 def is there along with 12 Angry Men among others.

Honorable mention goes to. . .

It was close but as much as I love Serenity I don't think it has what it takes to be a classic or hold up to a dozen watchings.

2001: A Space Odyssey

^its waaay in the lead!

Then in no particular order:
Barry Lyndon, A Clockwork Orange, Full Metal Jacket, Dr. Strangelove etc., The Godfather Trilogy

Honorable mention to Snatch, Lock Stock ..., Alien, Les Bronzés font du ski, Indian Jones & the last Crusade

Did I mention I was a S. Kubrick fan? :p

Serenity
The Notebook
The Color Purple
Baby Boy
Gone with the Wind
Crash

I have heard some good things about this movie, I'll have to check it out...

Your SINGLE favourite movie of all time. (read first post)

Please please please, *resist* the almost irresistable temptation to say how difficult it is and then use this as an excuse to qualify your nomination with a list of movies that you want everyone to know you also like.

Yes it is infuriating, but just pretend that someone has a gun at your head and if you mention any other movie...well you get the picture.

My Vote is...Amarcord by Federico Fellini.

I wish I could say that it was difficult to choose because I also want to tell you that I considered *** by *** to demonstrate how cool I am. Not to mention *** and ***. or even ***.

There's a thread like this on nearly every forum on earth and it is useless because no one will list *one* movie which then devalues the whole thing. I want to see what others come up with.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Moulin Rouge.

But, I think I only say that because I haven't lived long enough and I haven't seen enough movies.

BTW, thank you for making this a clean and simple thread. Let's hope no one messes it up, or else...;)

If there's only one movie, then it'll have to be Aliens 2.

There's a ton of action movies I like (won't name them hehe), but b/c Aliens 2 is the pinnacle of horror/action and of course directed by James Cameron.

I mean, the sci-fi elements alone get most FPS gamers tingling. It gets horror fans the much desired rush.

I consider it one long movie chopped up into 3 pieces:

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy

I can't narrow it down more, because the three installments work perfectly as one long movie. This became evident to me when I saw all three back-to-back on the big screen on Trilogy Tuesday. Wow... unbelievable!
