Not a cliche, it's genetics, this has been going on since caveman times. Women are attracted to men who can provide for them, make them feel safe. You want to attract Grade A women, you need to project yourself as a Grade A man. Luxuries like Ray Ban's, Rolexes, BMW's, Gold Cards, Platinum Cards, and Apple devices do the trick. In Space Grey, of course.

BJ

I dont' disagree at all. I'm pretty jealous of your wealth, I think it's awesome. I have enough money to basically afford anything I want within reason, but not enough to comfortably buy a new BMW AND save enough for retirement/investments. I should hit 5 in about 4-5 years though which I'm happy about. Any tips, advice, etc....?

I have a space gray rMB as well.

You have to admit though that it is cliche. It's like hipsters drinking PBR and having bears and hating on Starbucks is cliche.

Ray Ban: OK, but it's still a Luxxotica brand like Persol and other fashion sunglasses. Nothing special.

Rolex: the poor man's luxury watch. Subs are a dime a dozen. When you upgrade your dive watch to a Patek Aquanaut, then we'll talk.

BMW: Again, introductory upscale/luxury marque. Holla atcha boi when you buy a Maserati at a minimum.

Gold cards? LOL. Platinum cards? LMAO. No Centurion card, no care.

Apple devices: That's what's up, playboy. Apple ***** all over Windows OEMs.

I bet he drives a 318i. He's already stated that it's not an M3 or M5 so that's that. Well, at least he got the badge and the key fob to post around the web and whip out in Starbucks. This guy is such a wannabe it's not even funny.

People who tend to be reasonably well-off would never act with such poor etiquette.

Anyways, back on topic! :)

I'd say Space Gray, Gold then Silver. Although I admit, the Space Gray and Gold are very close. Some days I actually really like the gold. Not sure I would buy one however.

That's what they say as they sip their lukewarm latte's and I leave with the girl.

if you really are jealous of him, then you should join his club, the ah club.

Yup. There and the BMW service department where all the smart male executives go on a Saturday morning to get a complimentary fluid change, coffee, and croissants.

It's not hard to find a gorgeous hottie to marry so long as you leave a financial paper trail for her to follow.

BJ
Ashley Madison called, they want you back.......

A friend of mine just got a rMB in gold. It was the first time I saw the gold in person. It's nice, but if I was going to get one I'd have to go with grey.

Mmmm... donuts...

This is not the first time BJ's posted that photo here and elsewhere. He is notorios on some of the BMW forums... where he's been banned a bunch of times under various pseudonyms. No longer welcome there, he probably decided to start spending more time here and start retelling the same stories about living the lifestyle. This apparently is his usual MO.

I love both the space grey and the champagne gold. I hate the silver as it's very 2001 colour wise here in the UK.

This shallow materialism talk by some of the guys made me feel sick. I've never read such shallow, pathetic meaningless garbage. Are some people really that shallow with non living material things???

Haha, nice one.

I was trying my best to resist posting a reply to him and asking since he was talking about how it's been like this since the time of cavemen, does he still club his women over the head with a large stick and bring them back to his mountain cave for some "snu snu." Apparently I failed miserably, as evidenced above.:p

Gold is what the Apple Store had in stock when I bought one, so I'll go with gold in the poll. :) I didn't think I'd like it but it has grown on me.

Don't want to bust your bubble, but a submariner is kinda cheap for a highend watch , a BMW is middle managent vehicle, raybans... Meh, and gold and platinum cards, not hard to get.

If I was a really hot woman, I'd expect something much better than a BMW, something along the lines of an Aston Martin , class, not mainstream.

Last thing that would attract me to another is the computer device they use.

The weird thing is that reading this thread suddenly resulted in Russian girl dating site ads popping up at the bottom of he page. That hasn't happened to me since college I think :p Almost exlusively motorsport and OWC ads for me normally!

Quite humorous. One of my clients gives 3 series to all their sales managers on my suggestion after they came to me and asked I give them advice. They are very good value for money on business leases - cost less even than Volvos and Audis for example, you get free service, and it makes middle management feel special. Every single one of their employees gets a new iPhone every 24 months for the same reasons.

The average household income in the United States is $49,000 a year, and those people don't have the type of shockingly elitist viewpoint you're sharing with the group. To think that anyone can own a $60,000 car, a $8,000 wristwatch, to have a 720+ credit score, pay $1,000 a year for a membership credit card, or get a $300 pair of sunglasses is insulting to the 99%'ers.

Stop already.

I don't drive a $29,000 3 Series. I drive a $60,000 4 Series. BMW's are highly customizeable, or I should say, highly strippable for those trying to show off a badge with no performance to match. For someone who wants the thread to get back on track, you're doing a good job of keeping the OT stuff alive.

First of all, apologies for keeping the off topic discussion going - I vote Space Grey because it is sexy and sleek. The Space Grey rMB made me reevaluate the Space Grey color, and ended up changing out my gold iPad Air 2 and iPhone 6+ for a Space Grey iPhone 6 and Space Grey iPad mini 3!

Sorry, but you seem to have a skewed view of income distribution in the USA. To make the top 1% you have to make at least $717k annually. The cutoff for top 5%, however, is only around $200k and top 10% $140k. The top 1% don't buy BMW, Rolex or Rayban. They don't have gold or platinum cards, and they don't give a rats behind about their credit score. All of this would be slumming it for the top 1%. You seem to likely be somewhere between the top 5-10% because while you have all of this stuff, you still place value on your credit score. The top 1% don't have relationships with financial institutions based on their credit scores. Also, for you to call someone shockingly elitest, that was downright comedy, literally LOL with my morning coffee there.

3 series start at $33k and 4 series start at $42k - a 435i xDrive starts at $50k - its actually pretty hard to get one all the way up to $60k MSRP. Yours must be pretty loaded and you must not have a very good relationship with your BMW dealer to have actually paid $60k for a 4 series.

Can we get back to discussing favourite colours for the rMB? I really don't care much about this my d*ck is bigger than yours banter.

Still think silver rules :)

If you don't want to keep the OT discussion going, you should stop generating it.

I am in the 1%, but importantly what you just wrote is that 95% of the world can't afford luxury items and Apple products are among them. Yes, it is very elitist for you to call a Rolex or a Platinum Amex Card "pedestrian".

I have a great relationship with my BMW dealer. I didn't pay the same $60K for a 5 Series or a 7 Series because I don't need a car that large. The new 4 Series is the perfect size for my needs. That said, the 5 and 7 are available in Space Grey and the 4 is not (getting us back on topic).

BJ

My vote would be Space Gray as well and I'll most likely be going back to SG with the 6s+.

I picked up the 1.2/512 model with some hesitation but that rather quickly went away and it has quickly taken my "best portable laptop" spot.

Bought the gold for my wife. She loves it.

I'm leaning towards space gray for myself but will likely hold out for an iPad Pro instead.

Oh, and BJ, I prefer Porsche. Currently enjoying a Macan Turbo, thank you very much.
