What are your favorite TV commercials that made you stop and think "wow"? It can be a commercial for anything; cars, video games, computers, restaurants, banks, viagra, anything.

One of the best commercials I have ever seen is the Lincoln MKZ Major Tom commercial. It's one of those things you just wish was real.

Another superb one was the Hummer 'GAME ON' ad. I always wished that would be a real game you could buy.

So what about you guys? What are your favorite commercials?

Not a huge fan of TV, but a number of ads/commercials have really stood out for me over time. Some of the best were for alcohol (this is Europe, remember) - specifically, beer and stout.

Carlsberg have made some wonderful ads - probably the best was the famous "Dream Apartment' ad, but they also produced a number of other sardonic classics ("Broken Down Truck Driver" which was a bizarre sort of homage to the film/movie 'Arsenic and Old Lace' [a classic for those who like that sort of thing, as I do]).

Guinness have also made some very good ads over time; the one that really stays with me was called "The Dancing Man [Good Things Come To Those Who Wait]" and featured a man dancing (to the incredibly fantastic tune of Guaglione by Pérez Prado) while he waited for his poured pint to settle so that the 'head' could then be poured.

As a child, I remember having been blown away by an ad for Hamlet cigars (not that I ever smoked them) which featured J. S. Bach's 'Air on a G String'. It was a perfect fusion of image, air and atmosphere. Likewise, (also from childhood), the Old Spice ad (granted, a ghastly scent), which featured a guy surfing while Carl Orff's song/melody 'Oh, Fortuna' from 'Carmina Burana' played. Simply sublime.
