which 30 seconds of the song do you want? My pleasure making a ringtone for a fellow Pearl Jammer. Next year should mark my 100th show! I also have many, many live versions which are much better then the album version imo

I'm essentially looking for one starting at the beginning of the vocals, like ~35 seconds in.

Um no. I'm not into feet, or toes(nails) for that matter. However, I can still offer it up for you. You merely have to be nice and say please. Remember your manners. :D
Ice, I tried what you sent me and it just isn't working. I do appreciate it, though! Many thanks :)

Works great on my Winders PC at home and my MBP here at work. You have to use iTunes to sync it.
But this one is the first 30 seconds of the song, with just the guitar playing. Very smooth.
Try to open the .m4r file inside of iTunes and play it that way.

I'm fairly familiar with the ringtone process, having imported/created several myself.
I've tried to import with iTunes, drag it in, manually open it, throw it in the ringtones folder etc. Nothing. :( I'll give it a few more attempts and see if I can figure it out.
I did have a question, though - is the file intentionally this small? I was shocked to see it so tiny!

I remember doing this when I was in high-school. It was cute at the time, but super annoying. My mother has a custom ringtone. I find this as tacky as custom license plates, even if they are free.

Just sucks when you have an old lady next to you in line having the same ringtone on her new iphone. :/

If you want to listen to your song, use your friggin iPod.
I've never been to a place where they say "omg this is my song! let's be friends"

Or you could really hit the jackpot and have a bunch of ghetto girls sing your song and dance in the middle of the mall, all because of your ringtone.

Custom ringtones = tacky and lame.

Not my hate, just my perspective.

I'm sorry, but I disagree. Apple includes only a finite number of ringtones by default. If I use my own custom ringtone, I can instantly distinguish my phone by the way it sounds. I don't have to worry about wondering "Is that MY iPhone ringing with Marimba?"
By all means, if you want to use the default ringtones, go right ahead. But you really should realize that there are other uses besides just being "cute."

what's your iphone ringtone??

I have a clip from the big bang theory, and the dwight "idiot" ringtone from the office as my default as of now.

No, thats not the right size at all. It should be 467KB in size. See mine?

I disagree as well. In my job, my phone sits at my desk while up and around. I can hear the ringtone from where I'm at usually. And by applying specific ringtones to a contact, I can determine who it is immediately without having to run back to my desk. I can continue my job without interruption. I can either decide to stop and answer, or let it go to voicemail.

exactly. I use it the same way. Always know just by my ringtone whether its family, friends, acquaintances or business and I can act accordingly without ever looking at my phone.

+1
I have my ringtones broken down by category. Certain business related calls, I HAVE to take right away and they have a specific tone. Others are more personal and have a different tone and can wait.
I don't do it to be 'cute'. I do it because it helps me with my time management.

Seriously? its bad enough you that you can't custom text tones. i have 2 coworkers with iphones we are next to each i am constantly looking to see if it was my text or his.
but if we all didn't have a custom ringtones we all would be constantly looking at our phones.
