Isn't CS3 like a $700 package?

A bit of overkill for some simple photo editing. I too would like something that does a bit more that iPhoto, but without breaking the budget. I think PS Elements, when the UB version comes out, will fit my needs. Anyway that is more in my price range for a photo editor.
Yes it is overkill for simple things but when you need the power, you need Photoshop. You can buy Photoshop CS quite cheaply then upgrade to CS3. That's the cheapest (legal) route to CS3 .... :)

How about GOOGLE's image editor? I DLd it when it came out and used it a few times, got bored really quick and went back to PS and ILL it's what I always use.

:apple:

For basic touch ups, what's wrong with iphoto? I use it a lot when I don't want to photoshop it. the sliders on top do a pretty good job. Its pretty fast to. Plus it is already installed. Iphoto 7 has even more adjustments too.

$450 something? then how much is it to upgrade to CS3?

Paintbrush is what you're looking for. I've looked for my father for 6 months and nothing else, even those already mentioned, comes close.

from website said:
Paintbrush is a Cocoa-based paint program for Mac OS X, similar to Microsoft Paint and the now-defunct MacPaint. The project's ultimate goal is to recreate the basic functionality of Microsoft Paint, which has been noticeably absent from Mac OS X for years. Paintbrush can open and save to most major image formats, including BMP, PNG, JPEG, and GIF.

intaglio is like mac draw pro from the old days.

much more features than paint and $79. not really as simple as paint but easy and i think it's worth it. i usually need a bit more than what paint offers anyway.

Thank you! I've been looking for something like this for quite some time. I was thinking of creating my own app, but now it looks like I don't need to.:D

Seashore

It's a deceptively powerful little app and does 80% of what I want in an editor. And until an adequate editor comes out in the $50 range, I stay with Seashore.

I tried Chocflop; it has potential but at present has too many interface oddities that it's just not usable to me. And Gimp on the Mac is an abomination :) I couldn't use it. Now, if there's a version with an OS X interface, I'd love to see it.

Try PaintBrush for simple Ms Paint style editing. Although, I prefer using Seashore. Its also free so u cant go wrong :)

Downlaod the trial of PS CS3 to see how great it is, I use it all the time, the pirce is extreamely high for someone with your needs but for me, its great!

Paintbrush is awesome. I've been using Seashore for my MS Paint substitute, and it's also great, but I just downloaded Paintbrush after reading about it on the last page and really like the simplicity of it. :)

Photoshop CS3 although Elements would probably do me for about 90% of my work.

I wish FR Jack was a real person, I think he could be fun to hang out with. I'm using Adobe CS on my new MacBook, and it works better than I expected. The price of CS3 means it will be a while, but I really want to give it a try when I get the opportunity.

I can't imagine a computer without PSCS3.

Unless you never use any of the power in those applications or any of your computer needs, I would always spend the $1200/whatever for the whole suite of printing/photo work.
