50 seconds on a 2009 Macbook Pro, 2.53 GHz, 8GB RAM, I'm wondering if there are any ways to increase that, does removing unused apps help?

Give the Seagate Momentus XT a try, fast boot times and large capacity.

Specs are in my signature.

It takes about 20 seconds to load to the login screen, and after I type in my password it take another 3 seconds for it to be usable completely.

Okay, so now when i restart or turn my computer back on it literally takes 5 to 10 minutes to boot up. It just sits on the gray apple screen. I don't know why. I'm not certain but i think when i randomly click the track pad and press keys it makes it go faster? I don't know.. Anybody have any idea what i should do?

I have a standard, new macbook pro, running lion. Bought it refurbished from apple.com about 6 months ago. Other than this issue it works super great.. And I have full apple care, just don't want to go through all the trouble making an appointment and bringing it in if there is something that i can do myself.
