It is also interesting to hear about your cellular service experience. AT&T service in Lawrence is terrible (AT&T admits as much) and it has been interesting to get assistance and technical details from some of Apple's engineers on how poor cellular service can really degrade the performance of the phone.

I walked in expecting the worst...and came out wanting to work there. An iPhone 5S I bought off of eBay had a bad LCD screen. The phone met the genius bar replacement warranty criteria and I walked out with a brand new 32gb iPhone 5S. Awesome environment!

Huge fan of the genius bar, don't know any other company that offers that kind of service. Never had an issue and have been quite a few times. Have helped me solve computer problems, iPad dropping, iPhone issues.

The name isn't the issue. You could call it the dumbass bar and the range of experiences will be the same. Some folks will be thrilled, some not. Because there will always be the folks that think that Apple promises total perfection, that they shout be helped when they want no waiting etc

You're lucky that you don't go to The Westchester Apple Store.

So because you have had crap experiences at one store you think all of them are crap. No bias at all there.

The point of this thread is for me to observe other experiences. I've had lots of good, lots of bad. I never said, 'Genius Bar is awful everywhere and always'. I'm just interested in hearing other opinions.

That's interesting if you mean Lawrence KS. My bf had AT&T until last year and always thought they had good service in the area. And of course AT&T is a sponsor of KU. I read a few months back that they'll be bringing signal amplifiers to campus. AT&T users will see a signal boost first and they may add bands for other carriers later or something like that.

But I would agree with Apple that signal issues could affect a user's opinion on the phone. My bf thought there was an issue with his 4S on T-Mobile even though it had gotten HSPA in the same places on AT&T. Same thing when my 5 was getting spotty Verizon LTE. I had dropped it and thought the antenna might've been messed up. Then after a few weeks I got solid LTE no problem. The only thing I can assume is that Verizon was working in something in the area and just not mentioning anything to subscribers or store employees.

i've gone to the Apple store genius bar three times and two have been positive, one negative.
the first time was with a pair of Apple's in-ear headphones that had the cable relief rubber splitting at the end of the ear bud after a little over a year of ownership. they replaced them for me (i think there was a 2 year warranty on them?).
the second time was for the battery life on my iPhone 5 that had about a month left on the warranty. the genius showed me the battery diagnostics for my iPhone (still pretty good) and showed me some settings to help increase my battery life. he recorded the case details and told me to come back if things didn't improve. his suggestions worked really well.
third was a bad experience that i detailed here where the genius tried to tell me my pink screen was a "feature" of the newly released iOS7. i later got that iPhone replaced via Apple's online/phone help.
