I hear yah.. just did a speedtest on my iMac, hardwired and got 41Mbps, then ran the test on my 4s and got 1Mbps.

Oh that sucks!

If it's that bad i would have gone to replace it, that is if it couldn't even hit anything above 10Mbit wirelessly if the connection is there! Are you using n-network? Or a/b/g?

My macbook which has n-capable wifi just like the iPhone maxes out at 60Mbit.. Though i'm not complaining at speed in the manner it's too slow to use, it's just that one usually wants max performance when there really are no other limits! :)

But damn, 1Mbps is bad. I feel your frustration!

Whoa!!!

WOW in the US of A I can get 105mbps down WITH 40mbps UP for $99 a month (xfinity new costumers)

Then i don't think i should tell you what it costs over here... hehe... it's about half that price.. Even less, and that's for at least 200Mbit down, though the up speed on that specific carrier only gives you 20 up.. Though there is loads of other carriers that offer 100/100Mbit for the same amount of money (about 40-50bucks a month), but the up speed isn't that important for most anyways as it's fast enough anyways :)

Had a go at my friends house to try out the wifi speed there, seems like the 4S is capable of really good speeds. 31Mbit down and 32Mbit up is very good for a portable device like a phone imho. Still you can get better. :p

Also had a try at the 3G internet with my prepaid carrier card that i've used for the past 15years... and i was surprised at the speeds i was able to get, 6Mbit down and 1Mbit up! That's is really fast for a prepaid card that is not on the main network for the 3G..

Ignore the other tests which i tried when there was really bad reception and in one case it was only Edge available.

Just wanted to share.

15 year old SIM card? You mean number right unless you cut the card for your iPhone. :)

Get a new card dude. :) I'm sure you can get a micro-sim there, also the cards have been updated in 5 years.

If i can get one i will do that :)

You can get micro-sims for any carrier aslong as it's not a prepaid card as i'm using... Or at least on most carriers that has prepaid cards, but i'll check that up tomorrow with the carrier store and see if they have gotten any solution for that, i actually checked that the other week on the net and i couldn't find any, that's why i'm thinking of dropping by to get it confirmed or simply get a new one.. i guess it will only do good for the phone when it comes to some thing :)

Thanks for the heads up!

Hehe, nowadays it seems like most people over here in Sweden have 100mbit both directions or even 200mbit..

Back in 28k days I remember that I had 10mbit cable and that was blazing fast back then, so I guess I've gotten used to fast Internet connection!

I would kill for those speeds. I'm stuck with 10/1 where I live, and I still pay something like $60/month for it. If I want a faster connection I have to get a business line, and even that is stuck at 15/2 IIRC

I would be happy with 10/1 aslong as it's true full duplex, meaning that you won't get any lag or loss of download when using the full 1 up.. :) I mean, the internet speeds we got over here nowadays is just ridiculously fast and especially for the price! 6months free, no contract binding and from 7months on it's 35bucks a month and that's with 25% tax etc.. In US prices it would be more like 25bucks a month equivalent.. Man i'm happy i don't have to pay 60 for that, because then i'd just live with the iPhone and the phone carrier using tethering to the computer all day long.. hehe..

The dumb thing is vs for example the US is that we got tethering enabled on all carriers and we may tether the internet off the iPhone to anything that can accept it for how much as we'd like to, some has caps at a couple of GB per month though, but still.. over here the internet is like the gas price in the US, it's cheap! Though i wish the gas prices was equal over here (they're like 2-3times more expensive if not more).. then i'd be happy to pay 60 bucks a month for 10/1!!

My iPhone speedtests show around 30-34mbps down, and 8 up.

Well that's one thing I am thankful for, my connection is indeed full duplex. I can simultaneously upload and download at full speed without issue.

This is one of the many things that the US is behind other developed countries in. I do realize that the country being physically much larger makes it tougher to develop the infrastructure, but I do think the bigger issue is that most ISPs essentially have monopolies within their service areas. It's funny how cable internet suddenly became significantly faster once FIOS was available in some areas. Unfortunately, I live in a small town that probably won't have FIOS or similar services offered for another 5 years or so.

Mobile internet is another issue. Verizon and AT&T have a stranglehold on the entire country, and I'm pretty sure they engage in some sort of price-fixing schemes. And since there isn't really any more spectrum available, it's pretty much impossible to have any viable competitors. T-mobile and Sprint both have too small of an infrastructure to really make a difference.

I never got people that worried about these numbers on a device like a phone. It's like worrying whether you have 250 or 220 fps in a computer game. Really, who cares?

Whatever one finds interesting one will try to find out what the max is, if you don't like these threads, then don't post in these threads, please, spreading negativity any time of the year is much worse than me being curious, don't you think?

And if you're worried that i'm worried about the speed, then no, i'm not.

It's always nice to know that you can account for X amount of time when it comes to the time when you need to do a backup to iCloud in a store or whatever and can then take the speed into consideration and know pretty much for sure on how long it should take and if it's worth it to stay there to make it all happen or not. Maybe you're not thinking longer than you're nose but there is other things that is always good to know sooner or later.

Sorry if other people get you down by being happy, however that works.. sigh
Or maybe it's because of some other reason you posted because that doesn't seem right to get disappointed or sad over.. What's your internet connection at home?

Wow... I would love to just have 10mbps... I pay for 1.5mbps, and get 1.52 usually. With .30 up. Fastest we can get in our close area is 10mbps. Yall make me jelly!

That's worse than 3G on the phone.. I feel your pain! 10Mbit though would be good enough!

Wifi speed is more about the router than 4S. Make sure you have a router capable of high speed. Check out some of the router benchmarks here.

Don't know if i said this before, but i think i did, on my macbook for example i get easily 60Mbit, so it's definitely not the router being the problem here :)

But thanks for the heads up! Might be a problem for many other though.

Wifi Download -21.03 and upload-14mbps in india. And also on 3G I get around 10mbs download speed....! India is not far behind anymore. They have launched 4g but yet to launch in my city. And 4g is gonna give us 75 mbps down!!!!

man, you all are really lucky.

I live in bumfuct ohio and the best I see is ~8.5mbps down and ~.92 up. This is with Timewarner (I puked in my mouth a little while typing that) cable.

My parents have time warner as well and I can pull ~22mpbs at their house.

go figure...
