I doubt the dutch app store has a different version than the us app store

Checked US, UK, NE, AU, NZ. Nothings out.

Gardiboy yes apps sometimes come out at weekends (the Dev could set it).

Edit: I have a feed on my mac that checks for updates but don't recall the name, though I think appshopper should be able to set alerts on there.

Any idea if whatsapp update is manual or auto release?
 
I resigned the IPA using my provisioning profile and certificate(iResign App) but after installing whatsapp icon remains grayed out. Don't know what i am doing wrong.

Either an issue with the Certs on the device or hasn't been signed properly.
 
I'd be surprised if it wasn't Monday or Tuesday.

Edited for clarity: this is my personal speculation based on the facts previously posted.

Let’s hope so. I really hope they won’t take as long as they did when the iPhone 5 came out.

Is there anyone on this forum who has used WA since pretty much day one?
How did they become this popular? Was it superior to its competitors when it came out? Was the support better?

I would really like to understand how they can get away with such a mediocre service and update policy (I remember all of the security leaks).

I remember in college I had a class on the exact same thing, network effects and how they can lead to lock ins to very inferior technologies because the network effect (utility you derive from all of your friends using the service) is much greater than the additional utility a better app (like telegram) would provide with its additional features (desktop, design) and better execution.
So it makes sense to me that people are having a very hard time switching because most of their contacts won’t be on other apps so they can’t just easily stop using WA.
But what I don’t get is how WA became so successful. It definitely wasn’t the first app of it’s kind...

I have been using Whatsapp since day one. they got popular mainly because they started up early (by the time they entered the market, their only competitor is Pingchat.) They got a closer to stock look and simple interface that attract more users. And most people are not willing to switch that's why they are still one of the most popular IM app now. For me, I have switched to use LINE for a long time already because of its more functions and stickers.
