haha same! To be honest I use iMessage over Whatsapp anyways
Same here, only if iMessage could work with competitors' devices. By far, iMessage is the most efficient messenger according to my daily usage. For Thailadn where I live, Whatsapp is a small service comparing to the well-known 'LINE' app

I only paid for this like once 3 years ago, I also didn't hear of any one who paid for it in the past 2 years it was free?
I also never saw any ads.

Any how, Whatsapp sucks and they read everything you write so move to Telegram which is picking up in popularity but not sure how its financially sustained.

EDIT: There is also a very secure app called SOMA but I just heard about it

Getting their butt kicked by who? Never heard of them.

Telegram. Look it up.

It has a native client for every popular platform, even a Linux command line version! Handles file transfers and media/document exchange really well. Hell, Whatsapp won't even make an iPad app- what sense does that make?

As others have stated, I've always seen that at some point I'll need to pay $.99, but have never been charged.

And I mainly use whatsapp for my international friends. That way you're not socked with an international text charge if you're out of LTE/3G and the text still goes through.

I never paid for WhatsApp, but my "subscription" is up in November of this year. I wouldn't mind paying the $1 for another year, but I'll take the elimination of the fees.

While I use iMessage more, I like WhatsApp for group chats I have with friends. Especially when not everyone has an iPhone.

I've looked it up. I mean, that sounds great, and I wish people would all use that, but nobody does. XMPP/Jabber with server federation and the proper extensions for good multi-device support and file transfer would've been even better, but that never happened, and it wasn't for technical reasons.

I am also using whatsapp for past 3 years and I didn't had to pay a single penny to it. Although it is really a good move by whatsapp as its maximum users are young teen kids and students who don't have debit/credit card to pay for them. Whatsapp has saved its business by this decision.

Can you explain why that is?
WhatsApp was created to mimic SMS with more features such as sharing photos, audio and video.

They don't want you to install WhatsApp on any other device but your phone. They made sure of that. If you want that kind of functionality, there's Facebook Messenger.

But... Why? I just don't get it..

You don't have to answer but, thank you for the previous reply.

Guess I'm out of luck. Cheap cell phone + iPod we continue.
