I know hardly anyone in the US uses WhatsApp but how do you text? Per SMS? Per Facebook Messenger? In my country at least both options are not ideal since many carrier plans don't include free texts and most people aged 40 to 50+ don't have Facebook.

Overwhelmingly most people in the US have iPhones, even if they are iphone 4 or 5. So we just use iMessage. The android people get ragged on because their iPhone friends have to send texts to them. Or people just call them "green". Or we just do not include them in group messages.
[doublepost=1517245095][/doublepost]Apple should allow Waze, not more distracting messaging apps.

WRONG.

Look it up. 2.2 and 2.20 are the SAME number.

They are 2 different numbers... version number two point two is not equal to version number two point twenty -- it is not read as two point two tenths, or two point two hundredths. They're each individual sets of numbers, separated by periods. If they ever got to the hundredth revision of version 2... it would be 2.100.

major.minor.patch

OS X/mac OS is 10.0... Puma was 10.1... Yosemite is 10.10... High Sierra is 10.13. Each. Section. Is. A. Unique. Number.

This is such a pointless discussion to have, but since you insist:

Please explain how 2.18.2 or 2.18.20 are numbers in the first place. 2.2 and 2.20 are indeed the same decimal numbers, but these aren't decimal numbers we're talking about... A period translates to "subversion", not "point". Hence 2.2 and 2.20 are NOT the same (read version 2, subversion 2 and version 2, subversion 20). This works in the exact same way as 5 and 7 are different numbers.

Any developers reading this who can explain how third party apps are able to be CarPlay accesible? Does the third party pay a fee for the privledge?

Any developer using that method of numbering is inane. You won't find that 'excuse' in any math book. If they don't know how to use decimal numbers properly and correctly, they obviously didn't get a great education and might be better off basketweaving. God forbid they have to find a library book, they'd go crazy.

Have you actually used Carplay to text? She works extremely well in my Subaru, and keeps my eyes on the road. I don't care about Whatsapp at all, but Siri has kept me from even considering looking at my texts ever since I got it.
Yes I tried Siri in the 4 languages I speak: English, German, Portuguese and Spanish. Siri/CarPlay simply sucks and distracts too much due to all the things i have to say multiple times to her, to correct her wrong actions.

The best CarPlay feature is DoNotDisturb mode with Auto Reply while driving with ”Sorry, but I’m driving and call you back later.” For Music and normal call answering etc. i simply use the physical controls on my steering wheel.

Heh :) somewhat yes.
Well, I wouldn’t care at all if a driver would just put his own life in danger, it’s up to each one.

The thing is, tousands of other people drives on the same road while trusting each others competense in hope nothing ever happens, and usually innocents are taken with to death.

Bummer, maybe the hardware in your car is not as good as mine. I continue to use it every day, and really have not had any problems with dictation.

I’ve tried it with the Siri mic, too - no difference.
And since Apple certfies Carplay to manufacturers, I think they make sure it works as it should with all certified cars.
I’ve tried it already on VW,BMW,Audi,Seat and Siri works equally bad on those.
Well, It’s Siri itself that sucks, even by using a pure iPhone without Carplay.

Again, my Siri does not suck on my Apple Watch, iPhone X, Car, or anywhere else. Maybe it's bad at picking up an accent you have, or something else?

Nope, tried 4 different languages.
Well, youtube is full failing Siri & Co. examples.
Anyway, it’s not only Siri. Google, Alexa fails more or less, too.
Sometimes it works, sometimes not, etc. it’s not reliable at all.
Maybe in 10 years those voice assistants works decently and non distractive.

That’d be most developers then. Including Apple. Including Microsoft. Including Linux. And the GNU project.

You’re right that you won’t find this ‘excuse’ in any math book; that’s because it’s not math. It’s software version numbering.
