Aye, seems that most the US peeps don't realise this.Telegram is almost unheard of in the UK.
It's basically a niche app in the UK.Telegram perfected multi-device messaging from the start, years ago
Because signal has 2 developers working on it vs. the hundreds at Facebook /sThat's what I think.
Signal does it without issue; why not WhatsApp?
Right, and the last I heard, WhatsApp is built on top of Signal. Without question, Signal for me is THE universal, cross-platform iMessage equivalent. Rock solid, and frequently updated.Because signal has 2 developers working on it vs. the hundreds at Facebook /s
(I’m constantly amazed by what signal has managed to achieve with their limited budget and resources)
Unfortunately i understand that's only possible on Android devices currentlyWhat we really need is having option to have to separate accounts on one device, I only carry my work phone to use WhatsApp I wish I could use there whatsapp on my iPhone app so have 2 accounts running they would be epic
That’s another app, like Telegram, that’s not big here in the UK.Right, and the last I heard, WhatsApp is built on top of Signal. Without question, Signal for me is THE universal, cross-platform iMessage equivalent. Rock solid, and frequently updated.
Native macOS app for you: https://www.whatsapp.com/downloadAh, so that's why none of my messages arrived that were sent from my MacBook Pro. Nice.
Anyway, would be nice if they actually introduced a native app instead of the current web wrapper.
That is the one being discussed, basically just a web wrap around, or have the updated it recently with an overhaul?Native macOS app for you: https://www.whatsapp.com/download
Yep, unless a messaging app is open source, you will never know.End-to-end encrypted. ? How do we know? Because Zuckerberg promises that it’s really really true! ?
Yeah it's really weird. And also weird why their Instagram web app is so dysfunctional compared to the phone apps. After all, this is the company that is so brilliant at web dev that it invented, and continue to develop, the open source javascript framework, React, which is now one of the most popular web dev frameworks in the world. And yet, the Insta web app is languishing?!so all we now need is an iPad app...Why it's taken years for one of the most popular messaging apps in
the world is beyond me.
Unless the code is open source. In which case, it is almost certain that other encryption nerds will check through the code, searching for holes to pick in it, gaining glory and notoriety (and as a side effect, wealth) if they succeed. But even then, if you have seriously private messages to send, then you need to compile the code yourself, as you will never know if the company is producing a build from a modified code source. You never know with any company.
I dunno mate, whatsapp does everything I need it do. Telegram, on the other hand, continuously bothering me with updates, is a bit annoying, and offers no extra functionality that I need. I actually have both though, a true messaging app agnostic. When I really want privacy though, I reach for Signal, or use PGP for emailing stuff.Whatsapp is such a backward messenger with little to no improvements given the amount of users... on Telegram you get a new update like every week with a changelog of things that got improved/fixed.
"Meta" is lightyears behind that... not even having an iPad App in 2021 is just pathetic...
...the only reason WA still exists is that the average user is really damn slow adopting other services. Otherwise WA would have vanished years ago.
I know, so ridiculous, can’t tell me there’s not enough iPads out there to support bringing an app to itso all we now need is an iPad app...Why it's taken years for one of the most popular messaging apps in
the world is beyond me.
You need to share this for us to use as profile picture too!my Whatsapp profile pic is Zuckerberg being crushed in a trash compactor, no one has visited me yet.
Yup, this is just infuriating. Yes, I know that you can access via web Safari. But I want a native app.> Multi-device support
> Doesn’t support iPad
How the bother you with free updates and new features? How they dare??I dunno mate, whatsapp does everything I need it do. Telegram, on the other hand, continuously bothering me with updates, is a bit annoying, and offers no extra functionality that I need. I actually have both though, a true messaging app agnostic. When I really want privacy though, I reach for Signal, or use PGP for emailing stuff.
This means nothing, Telegram is very secure and you can read it on their website with deep explanations too. Telegram has many other features, it works super fast and especially is cloud based. You don’t even know how many users destroy their mobile os due to WhatsApp: local data, duplicated data… I work in support and it is the issue number one, people full their devices.Although WhatsApp has many issues, Telegram is hardly the superior solution. For one, Telegram doesn’t even have e2e encryption by default. That by itself is a huge no.
