The content is end to end encrypted. It is private. The metadata is not end 2 end encrypted, it is not private. They also can see things like contacts, device details, location details
 
This is quite useless unless they give permission for everybody to use their API, and not just to specific companies.

Yes, I realise that, hence why I argue back at people who say that Whatsapp is private and as private as Signal because it uses the Signal encryption system.
 
WhatsApp is on Mac both as a native app and via the web. It's just missing a Mac native app, as well as a limitation that you can only have it open in one other place in addition to your phone at any point in time, and they have to be on the same network.

Yeah that's not native enough for me. It's just relaying stuff through your phone. Signal works if your phone is off, like iMessage does.
