I'll just trade my 5s in at Best Buy when I get the new phone. I have enough phones on my plan that I will get a new one on contract for free that way. I might not make any money, but I don't have to go without a phone and there is no hassle that way.

Me too, except Apple is paying more for my IP5 than AT&T.

I am buying the 6 unlocked, so as much as I would like to keep my 5s as a back up, I will probably sell it once my 6 is activated.

my screen broke.

too lazy to fix it and sell it....

Ill keep it around as a back up track pad to use as mobile mouse so if I'm walking around I can control the projector even if my main phone is charging or something.

And then ill also have a future backup so i can sell the 4.7 a little before the 5.5 comes out and be set up for better timing on selling it.

My policy is to sell between when MacRumors reports on the rumored date (confirmed by WSJ, Jim D., etc.) and when Apple actually sends out the invites. The last few years, the mainstream press and local news has even reported "New iPhone expected to be unveiled by Apple on September ___." When people see it on the news, that's when the value starts to drop.

I remember I sold my iPhone 4 for $580 right before the 4S came out. That is the best I have ever done... considering it sold for $650 unsubsidized new. The person who bought it had to be clueless and had to have been kicking themselves once the new phone was announced.

This is true. I hope because my iPhone is unlocked that it will help the selling price.

I don't intend selling my 5S till after Christmas at the earliest, I might not even bother and wait until next September for the 6S as a bigger screen not really priority for me atm & i do like the compact size of the 5S, and iOS8 doesn't have any problems running on the 5S so i might just wait...we'll see :p.

We don't know what is going to be released or when.

Some rumours suggest another model in 2-3 months time, that could be the model I want.

I'm going to wait until I have my new device in my hand before I sell the 5S.

:apple:

Since I don't have a backup and my cell number is my work number, I'll have to wait until I have a new phone in hand. I usually sell them at Gamestop for cash after getting the new model. I'll probably end up doing it the same day since the AT&T store and Gamestop are in the same mall.

I donate mine to battered women foundations. Since I do that I have the luxury of waiting until after the new iPhone is out.

If I were to sell them I'd be doing it ASAP.

I just purchased my Unlocked 5S, so I will keep it as a backup with my T-Mobile prepaid SIM.

Best time to sell it without having to go too long without a phone is immediately after the new iPhone is announced. The worst time to sell is within the first couple of weeks after release because during those two weeks eBay and Craigslist are usually flooded with the previous model iPhone. Believe it or not, the resale value old the previous model usually goes back up a little and stabilizes again about a month after the latest model is released.

Bought my 4S for $80 from a friend so I will likely give it to a family member for free. Might try and buy a used 5C or 5S, I never pay the full price on my iphones.

$40 for my 3G

$80 for my 4S

I'll be willing to spend $160 on my next iphone and just keep doubling that until I reach $640, which is around the actual price of a new iphone
