LOL - not enough options in that poll, as I started using Macs WAAAAAY before system 7 ever appeared - my first Mac (a Plus) came with System 3/Finder 5 if I remember correctly.

Incidentally, I still have the Plus (now running system 6) and it still works!

Was also an Openstep user before OS X showed up (NeXTSTEP/OPENSTEP was the Unix-based OS that turned into OS X).

May 2007 OS X, Up till May 2007 i was a die hard windows user, One day i wondered into the apple store and tried Tiger, that was it, i was hooked, i ordered my Mac Pro the beginning of May, it was shipped & up and running in place of my windows machine by 25th May 2007, never looked back, :D

I had a friend that was an apple addict years ago so when I needed a computer for my business I only knew of one brand that had a nice interface. The choise was not wich brand or operating system but wich model to choose. The LC and Mac Os 7 was just introduced so the choice was even narrowed down to what screen to choose : colour or black and white. I chose the colour screen and was offered a black and white occasion some time later. So I still have both.

I started on OS 9, and hated it. I wanted nothing to do with Mac's till using my brothers iMac 'lamp' with Jag. After that, I was hooked! :D

pre 2001 - Windows 2000 on IBM
2001 white iBook - OS 9/X transition
2003 white iBook - logic board dead
2003-2007 - switched to Windows XP on Fujitsu/HP/VAIO
2007 - switched to OS X Tiger/Leopard (bought MBP)

I only recently got my first Mac and I hope I never have to switch back. In that time though, I've also played with OS 8.5 on up till OS X 10.5.

1984.

Was there a Mac OS 1.0?

Yes - System 0.97 / Finder 1.0 was originally demoed with the Mac in 1984 although by the time they were shipping in any quantity, it was System/Finder 1.1

It didn't actually start to be officially called MacOS until MacOS 7.5.1 back in the mid-nineties, though.

That would be 9 years ago in kindergarten. If I recall correctly, it(or more appropriately they) were Power Macintosh 5260/75's running 7.2.

The truly scary is that to this day, my school(but not that class - they got a few surplus iMac G3's) still uses those very same Macs with that very same OS.

I started with OS 7.6
...What a piece of crap that was. Actually, it didnt get better til they released 10.2!

When did I start using my Mac?

When did I start using my Mac? On the day I bought it! Duh! :D

Ok, so I bought it in June 2004. It was both my first computer and my first Mac.

I've used the old OS 7 (or 8? I don't rmember) machines, but only switched last December, making me a Unix/Intel guy.

Let's see, the Apple ][e for me was the first apple and that was along time ago - got it new - my first Mac was the Mac Plus in 1986. I was 100% Mac all the way through college and then I got a job and went PC a few years after that - then I came back in 2005 again with a G5, which I sold and then got a mini in anticipation of the new Mac Pro which I have yet to get - struggling with the new entry price - can't stand iMac's all in one goodness since I have other morsels already.
