When do Apple refurb prices after refreshes

Does anyone know do Apple’s refurbished Mac prices usually go down when newer models in the line are announced, or when ready for order or later?

I’m trying to decide should I wait to get a 16” M1 Pro refurb to maybe save $100+.

My impression is that refurb prices stay stubbornly consistent. Sometime they show "Save $xxx" (compared to new price) but any reductions seem to be small.
Maybe others have seen different.

Older models are priced lower than newer models. Prices go down over time.

I've seen prices vary by 5-10%, but it wasn't clear why. Some of the old refurbs just weren't that good of a deal. But still good if you need a specific model they don't make anymore.

Refurb is good for discounts on custom configurations. But I think the standard configurations have bigger discounts at other stores.

It immediately goes down, same day as new product launch. This is assuming the product has a direct replacement. If not, then it may not go down.

An example is the M1 MBP. Right now it's $1,059 which was originally $1,299. So it took a $100 hit with a 10% refurb discount.

If you look at the prices of the Intel Mac minis, they are still outrageously expensive for what they give you.
