The 16GB is the only version that is hard to find.
AT&T and Verizon are sitting on plenty of 32 & 64's.

Retailers aren't getting them in regularly. Radioshack and Best buy didn't even have enough to sell regularly, only enough to fulfill SOME pre-orders. Walmart and Target are pretty much nonexistant.

guess its a little different in canada. the white ones are easy to get. black..not so much.

Don't expect to see store inventory till after the Holidays.
Holiday shopping and additional launches will not help supply.

some of them aren't even coming in til december from online estimates. at this pace it would be smarter for them to stow away a couple million units to save for release around december 17th when most people start christmas shopping. That way they won't be totally blown away. Most people who really wanted the 5 have it now anyway if they were serious about getting it sooner rather than later.

It's hilarious that you think people start Christmas shopping on December 17th.

As of this week it's now available on open term and prepaid in NZ so it looks like the demand is dropping a bit now, at least over here.

Damn, I was just checking and lately you could have ordered a Verizon 32 or 64 and gotten it by the 26th. But now it's backed up to deliver by November 16th.

I do remember the phone being available instantly online for the 4S in late-winter time. But who knows with the 5 being more difficult to make.

Blame this on the people complaining about scuffs

Would you buy a new BMW with a scratch? I understand scratches happen but not before you sign on the dotted line. No one should accept scuffs and scratches out of the box especially for a device that is marketed the way it is.

When I was in Verizon 2 weeks ago getting a sim card for my iPhone 5 a customer wanted the iPhone 5 but settled for a Droid Razor M. Sometimes being out of stock is not good. You still have some incredible Android devices coming out before Christmas and many people are just going to pick those.
It's low stock which is creating the higher demand. Apple would rather have high stock and high demand at the same time.

You would think that during Thanksgiving/Black Friday there would be plenty available but the demand would also continue on its peak until after Christmas.

I'll say January/February until somebody can be able to walk into any AT&T/Spring/Verizon and get one with no hassle.

My friend in Australia ordered on release day and is scheduled to receive it on Nov 28th. I ordered couple of days after release, got a date of 10/19, canceled it to change color and reordered, still got it on the 19th.

They are surely having supply issues. I changed from Black to White but they still sent me a Black one. And now I love it and not giving it back!

Many people start in October/early November. I don't know of anyone who waits until a week before Christmas.
you and I must live in very different areas. Nobody is even talking about Christmas over here it hasn't even been Halloween yet.

When early adopters all have their flawless and fully operational iPhone 5's. Then demand will drop and you'll be able to walk into a store that has stock on all colors and storage sizes.

My friend just ordered one through apple for store pickup and got it yesterday ordering it the day before. The apple store was off Knox.

Thanks for letting me know. I've spent way too much time doing that and in store with no luck. Tired of wasting my time haha

The beginning of the new year, there are lots of people still waiting to get theirs even though they ordered right away. People are going to buy them as gifts throughout the holidays and then it will slow down.
