When do you think that production defect issues will be sorted out?
When will it be solved? Never.
Historically, Apple has not appeared keen to improve their quality control, at least as it applies to displays. I'm certain that Apple executives have long since weighed the costs of improved QA against the rate in which their products are returned or exchanged; it's probably just cheaper to absorb the relatively small losses that exchanges cost.
They, quite naturally, appeal to a huge consumer market that probably doesn't look to closely at these things anyway. I'm not one of those people.
