Thanks Macky-Mac. That's what I figured all along because it is the easiest way for Apple to do it. Of course that means that the average person loses about a week of their warranty waiting for the computer to arrive.

Anyone who has already received their new iMac G5 want to call and ask when their warrany began? That would confirm for us without a doubt when Apple starts the clock.

weird. i got calls for both my imac and my ibook when their times were about to run out. though maybe it was because i used the higher ed discount? no, because i got the ibook through amazon.com

OK. I have the answer.
My AppleCare Warranty extended two years until 6/27/07, and the iBook was shipped and credit card was charged on 6/27/04. So, it is 1 year from the date shipped, also the day that the credit card was charged.
