Maybe try calling them again sometimes it really can depend on the person you get on the phone! :D but try in store if that doesn't work :)

So I went to the apple store and they had me setup within 10 minutes. They also refunded 8 dollars back to my card because the education pricing is a little lower with the gift card =)

Glad I could help if I did, I'm not from the US but help anyone anywhere it's usually the same as the UK with call centres and stuff depends on the person :)
Glad you got it enjoy, just save some of that for the new OSX in Fall ;)

Did you have to swap the MacBook Air due to 'wireless' issues or did you just ask about getting the promotion? Seeing if my wireless idea worked for people :)

Didn't even take my mac to the store lol. I just showed them my receipt on my iphone and asked if they could give me the gift card even though I was 4 days over the return date. The guy was nice about it and said he had to get manager approval for it but he could do it.

Do you know if this gift card shows up in all the istores? I know you can apply it to any of the istores but once it is applied to one does it show up in the others? Like if I apply it to my account on the Mac App Store can I make purchases on the iphone App Store using the gift card or am I confined to the Mac App Store?

Sometimes it's really is just what employee or manager you get which can be stupid sometimes! They probably know though you'd just of got a refund anyway from saying there's a wireless issue or something but to honest it doesn't cost the employee/manager or the call centre assistant to give it you which makes it even worst when some decline and others just give it out.
The ones that give it probably know how they would feel in the same situation anyway :)

Anyway enjoy and I'll probably see you around the forums ;D

I just called. The nice lady put me on hold and came back and said no problem. Confirmed my email and said it would be 2-3 weeks for it to come. I ordered MBA day it came out. Received 6/15 so technically 2 or 3 days over. no issues at all so try again. :apple:

Lol your right. Thanks again

Since my MBA is still in transit (allegedly it is in Alaska today), I called Apple and seemingly got an ok for the gift card. But I can't figure out what I'll do with a $100 credit in the app store since, in the years I've had an iPhone, I don't think I've spent $15 on "apps."

You get the promotion if your in your 14 day return period from the date you received your MBA :) some have even got it out of their 14 day return period as seen above in this thread!

Well you'll have enough for the new OSX and treat yourself to some good paid apps/movies/music ;D it's there to be used, use it! :p

You can also use the card for movies and music. When Apple will introduce their new TV in September you will feel the urge to buy some more. :D I'll definitely use it for Mavericks. However, I will have to make the call and they are not open until 9 - that's 2 hours from now... Can't wait...

I also phoned them up and was within the 14 day window (so they claimed, I didn't think I was) and got the gift card too. Woo!

I called them about an hour ago. They are not sending me the gift card, instead they send me an itunes code via email. That could take up to 3 weeks... Well. That's fine with me too. Only all the waiting is abearable...

Just spoke to Apple and they're going to give me the £70 Gift Card, I'm so happy. If it hadn't been for other people on this forum I probably wouldn't have tried so thanks to everyone who brought this up.

Ordered my Macbook Air on the 13th June from the Apple UK Online Store and had it delivered on the 20th so just made it within the 14 days with 1 days to spare, phew.

The guy I spoke to was great and so helpful, some really good customer service.

Good Luck!

I bought the MBA on Sunday, a 4 min call today and I will have my gift card in a few weeks! Great service experience.

Adding my voice to the others pointing out that you can claim the gift card if you're within the 14-day return period of a previously-bought Macbook, but also thought it might be worth adding that as well as calling, as most seem to have done, from my experience they were just as happy to offer the gift card credit when contacted by email -- I only had to supply my Apple ID (not even any order info'), and that was enough for them to confirm and give me the same "within three weeks" that everyone else seems to be getting. :)

oh right! the new OS. Duh, i hadn't even considered that!

So I have no idea what to use my card on lol. I don't really plan on buying movies or music. So anyone want to recommend some apps I guess?

Nope. But you already get an educational discount on top of the gift card. What more do you want?

I have no use for iTunes purchases. Could use the $100 for backpacks, software, from the apple store. You know, stuff actually useful to students.
They should rename this promo "back to movies & music promo" then have another promo that benefits students.:)

I went to grand central station apple store and the guy told me i had to bring in the mac return it and then re-sell it to me. To me that doesnt make sense. But he said that they would need to put it into the system.
