When does the Back to School promo usually start each year?

Heyy, I've been following this thread for the last couple days to figure out when the back to school deal will be starting - and it is currently live on the Apple UK store.... YAY 😀:apple:

Can confirm the same is true of the Swedish store. £70/700SEK gift card with Mac purchases, or £35/350SEK for iOS devices, exactly as forecast yesterday.

From 9to5 Mac : "The Back to School program runs from July 2nd until September 6, 2013. The promotion is only available at Apple Retail Stores, Apple Online Store, and Authorized Apple Campus Stores for Mac and iPad, and only via the Apple Retail and Apple Online Stores for iPhone, according to the terms and conditions for the promotion on Apple’s website."

gah this was suppose to be my trigger to buy an air, but with a new retina refresh possibly coming, I'm torn again ugh.
 
Yesterday I bought a macbook air at the spanish online Apple store

I just have cancelled my yesterday order and I have another order today with the 80€ card included.
 
How many people will cancel/return their new products now just to buy again for the gift card! hahaha!

I'd do it if I was buying the new MBA this year, it's a free £70 giftcard just to wait a few days again!

You've got till the 2nd September if your willing to wait in case the new rMBP comes out in that time! 😀
 
If anyone has a recent order that is still processing or in transit to them, give Apple a call.

I was able to add the promotion to my MBA order that shipped out on June 29 (won't be here until next Monday, per FedEx).

It will take 3 weeks to get the code via email since they obviously can't physically put a card in with orders that have already shipped. No need to return and re-buy!
 
Another confirmation.

I picked up my BTO MBA last Tuesday.

Called Apple.

They said no problem, get code in 3 weeks.

I bet you comes out a lot sooner

I'm ready to pull the trigger on an MBA but am thinking about waiting until my state's tax free weekend to go along with the back to school promo.

Does anyone know if you can buy online during the tax free weekend and Apple honor the tax exepmtion? The MBA configuration I am wanting is not in the stores so I will have to purchase online.
 
I bought my mba in store on the 14th. (18 days ago) Do you think they will give me the gift card?

Should I call or go to the apple store?

Unfortunately, I think you're out of luck. The general consensus on here going by people's experience (my own included) is that they're willing to give the gift card to people within their 14-day return period to save the hassle of returning and re-purchasing. If you're outside your 14-day return period, I doubt they'll be able to do anything for you.

As Collider said above, however, it's always worth a try just go along the route of a new customer, didn't know they did this every year etc.., if you get someone alright on the phone you will get it. If you want it badly call up a few times get different phone operator and hope you get lucky! 🙂

Apart from that you can play it sneaky and say you are having wifi problems and want to return they might give you a full refund as it's a known problem even out of your return period if your lucky, and then buy again with the promotion - always worth the shot if above doesn't work.
 
I bought my air using a corporate discount which worked out to slightly better than educational discount. I wonder if I'll be able to get a gift card or if I'll have to return it and then re-buy using my educational discount?
 
purchased my air on June 22nd, received it yesterday, just called and they will send me the gift card via email within 3 weeks. Anyone know if it will take the full 3 weeks?

As said try that ringing/or going to store. See where you get with that.

If not maybe try my 2nd idea. Keep me updated please I would like to see where this one goes considering your 18 days in.

I highly doubt it, however, it's only started today so no one will actually know the answer to this without guessing 😛
Everyone that has rang up for their gift card has been told 3 weeks so we will all wait and see I guess, although as said I doubt it will 🙂

Most likely due to it been an educational discount and not a corporate discount promotion. 😎
