YOu can not use it towards an ipad or ipod classic. The way it works is you can get any ipod touch you want and then you get a $200 rebate. So if you get the 8GB touch it is "free" you could then sell that ipod and put you $200 toward an ipad but you will not get a rebate with anything else than an ipod touch. This may change, but the ipad was not included in last years promo

You purchase together and get a rebate for the Touch. Can't remember exactly how much the rebate though but I think its pretty much covers the cost of the Touch.
But, I will still save $200 on the purchase price of the MacBook excluding the iPod touch, correct? So, for example, if I sold the iPod touch for $150, it would be like I saved $350 total on the MacBook?
Edit: Just spoke to Apple sales and they said that "if" they offer the iPod rebate, you will get the discount on the Mac AND the iPod rebate.

No problem. I actually just changed my mind and ordered a refurb 15 MacBook with antiglare hires screen. This way, I can keep a little cash for the supposedly redesigned MacBooks of 2012.
Just to set the record straight, during the promotion, you get the year round discount on the macbook pro and a free base ipod(nano/touch). I for one will be getting a 15" 2.2 w/ high res AG and a 32gb ipod touch because my ipod touch is now my sister's and my iphone 3gs doesn't have enough space for me. SOON

I'm confused. I am also planning on purchasing a 13" i5 MacBook pro. From my understanding, I will be able to use the edu discount.. meaning my price will cut from 1249.95 to 1149.95, (since i live in canada) and the rest of the promotion offers a free ipod touch and a free printer? or just one of the two.
and all of this with a single purchase of a laptop? Sorry, i dont understand what rebate means, and this whole mail in and wait for a check, business. thanks for the read.
