I'm really getting annoyed with these Americans complaining about iPhone 3g dropping out etc. I have a crazy idea. Maybe think how long has AT&T had 3g?not long at all if I'm correct. Australia has had it for years now and guess what? Never have I gone out of 3g range and never have I had a
Single call drop out even though I live in rural Australia. Get over it guys iPhone 3g was only brought out cause it will a) be stable one day in America and b) no other countries can put up with this old edge network. Never mind I have a great solution! Turn off 3g. Obviously hasn't been a need for upgrading to 3g when everyone else did you'll make do. Just like imperial measurement ey? Go on make a stand and don't upgrade like everyone else. That'll show us

your right... I'll just turn off my 3g and forget about it, until I pay my $74 US Dollars payment to AT&T each month. and wonder why I am wasting my money.

Dude, I drop calls when I turn the 3G off.

32GB is possible. However, expecting a new iPhone to be launch after your purchase will make you mad. Just get it, and of course be happy with what you have. Or you might just go insane thinking when the next one will come out. :D

My guess is that Steve will just quickly tell us during MacWorld that the 32GB 3G is coming and it will probably release late January or early February

Budget

WOW to me this phone since it's introduction seemed to be done on the cheap! I work in the printed circuit board industry by the way and China's quality has dropped significantly! If your going to enjoy the freedom and comfort that living in this great country provides and STILL send work to China to make more of a profit I think the least you could do is better incoming quality control! The first iPhone had none of these issues and if it had it would not of been nearly the success that it eventually became. Apple made a mistake on this model. It is much more than the software (which sucks) or the network. Having said all of that, the iPhone is still the best at what it does. I do wish I never upgraded my software on my original though.

X-

Dear jaysis whats with these threads....
The iPhone just got updated a few months ago. Only updrade it may get is 32gb boohooo...

Right? People, it's a fact of life: Technology progresses. Does it suck for consumers sometimes? Yes. The real question you have to ask yourself is, do I need to be on the bleeding edge all the time, and if so, why? If it's worth it for you to continually wait, then do it. Other people aren't going to be able to figure this out for you.

(on a side note, isn't it a bit...odd to pick up so many accessories before being sure you're going to actually buy the device?)

This just in : New iPhone coming out soon, save your money and wait, it's coming... any minute now... wait for it...

I think you may see a new iPhone by Macworld of next year, but currently it seems that MobileMe is getting a lot of attention, then the new iPod nano and touch, then probably a new iPod revision in January.

Think I dropped about 6 calls today, have (another) appointment with a genius tomorrow - and this is already my 2nd 3G.

ps-For all you haters who will say it's not the phone it's the service, eff off because I've had AT&T for OVER 10 YEARS and I have never had any problems like this. IT'S THE PHONE AND IT'S A PIECE OF S**T!

Try turning off 3G in the system prefs. My coworkers have had much greater signal since turning that off. It bites that you can't utilize the faster network, but that is AT&T's fault because the network now has too many users for the infrastructure.

I think next step will be introducing new generation of iPhone, there will two models pro and 3g ))) or something like that

Well, shoot. If Apple ACTUALLY LISTENS to user feedback and ACTUALLY makes corrections, and the next version of the iPhone fixes everything that people complain about the current version, then the next iPhone will be one heck of a phone! :D

I'm guessing the next version will be coming out in July 2009. It will probably be called
the "iPhone3G v2" or something like that.

I don't think Apple will be splitting off the iPhone into more than one model anytime soon since its still a new product. The appeal of the iPhone is that it does "everything". Having a phone that does less (negative for customers) and cost less (negative for Apple). Apple will not consider adding another model until interest in the iPhone declines even after it is refreshed. It's better to focus marketing and support on just one popular product.

The next iPhone 3G will be called the new iPhone 3G to make it easier for consumers. We can differentiate by calling it iPhone 3G (2nd gen) when we discuss it in the forums.

I haven't posted here in a while, but I bought my iPhone a while ago. It broke, and I got a new one from Best Buy yesterday (the greatest extended warranty ever). It hasn't been turned on yet because the Invisible Shield is still drying, but by tomorrow night I'll have the thing filled up with music and video.
