It's somewhat amazing to me that so many clicked on "buy immediately and trust Apple fixed it"..

Folks - Is this the same Apple that was in total denial about this and doing everything possible to avoid even acknowledging the problem and finally doing a repair program?

I am also amazed people continue to buy these even with Apple’s replacement promise. Why buy a machine with a keyboard as fragile as a dried flower? No thanks!

I'm in the market nowish I'll likely buy the next iteration without delay. Personally, I think the keyboard issues are overblown. I've never had a bit of trouble with an Apple Laptop and the one time I needed a repair, it was handled flawlessly.

Thought there was speculation on an update for the MBPs this week to target the back to school crowd? Apparently Apple has done this in the past during mid July. Anyone hear anything about that or was it just a myth?

I haven't found anything (within reason) that my mid-2012 MBP can't do so I won't be upgrading at all. When the day comes this laptop dies I'll opt for the next used model I can find for less than $100. I'm guessing I'll get the 2018 MBP somewhere around 2025-2030. ;)

That's a bit of an exaggeration to be honest with you. I have a 12 inch, that have had for 2 years. a 13 inch touch bar for my wife for a year and a 15 inch touch bar bought in 2016 and none of them have had any issues. This is noting that I type hard, eat in front of my computer and am on my computer about 10 hours a day and none of these machines have had any issues.

Back to topic, I'm simply waiting for a hex-core 15 inch to come out and I'm all in!

So Apple calls the just released MBPs’ keyboard 3rd generation. Shall I just buy it immediately and test it?

Do issues like the 2017 mbp show up within 2 weeks?
