When starting OSX from turned off PC it displays standard background and profile pic

Hey, wondering if it is normal when you turn MacBook off and start it again it displays standard Monterey background and a flower as a profile picture but as soon as I login it switches back to my chosen wallpaper and my chosen profile picture.

Which MB model? Which version of Monterey?
Depending on the latter, try:

1. Set System Preferences>Security & Privacy>FileVault>Turn Off FileVault
2. Desktop & Screen Saver>Change background to background of your choosing, or change to another and change back
3. Apple menu > Lock screen >> background should be the one you've chosen
4. if you are the sole user AND file vault is turned off you can go to System Preferences>Users & Groups >Login Options and set "Display login window as" to "List of users". Then your login screen should match your desktop background.
5. Turn FileVault back on

Thanks i will try it tomorrow. What does it have to do with firevault? At the moment if I go to apple menu-lock screen, it displays the correct inage. It is only if I turn it off and on.

With FileVault enabled you'd receive a standard Monterey image because with filevault boot process slightly differ from a default one. System don't know from whom (user) obtain information

When Filevault is enabled, the screen you see after powering on the Mac is not a login screen altough it looks like it. Because this screen is displayed before the boot of actual system, its' appearance is not related to user settings/preferences.

So pretty much it displays the default wallpaper and picture because no one is logged in. Is it possible to change default wallpaper and profile photo before anyone logs in?

Like others have mentioned, it really depends if you are using FileVault. If you are, it’s pretty much impossible to change the background.
