I do think that retailers like AT&T, at the very top, know more than just rumors.

I'm sure the carriers need to test the device on their networks before it is released. So higher-ups at the carriers likely know at least what kind of connectivity options the phone will have and when it is coming.

Not only that but a carriers like AT&T put their orders in for these new iPhones months and months ago! They are not delivered with a quick phone call like a pizza.:p

I still think the 5 will be continued - I don't see the 4S as being the entry level phone - they may sell the remaining stock, but manufacturing will cease. The 5C is entry level, the 5 is middle and the 5S is top of the line.

All will be lightning - all will be LTE - all will be 4"

The 5C will use the iPad 3 ARM (A5X, maybe just the A5) chip and LTE radio - the 5 will be A6 - the 5S will be A7.....

The glass back is gone....

Then the iPhone 6 will be 4.5" - Asia is the driver behind the size jump - Apple cannot compete unless they increase the size of the display.

And the 5C should cost around $399 for the 8GB (16 if we are lucky) version - take an iPad and add LTE? $130...

Take an iPod Touch and add LTE? $299 - +$100 - there you have it.

They will sell all they can build.

I suspect they may be going for an "iPhone 5 for everyone!" marketing strategy where the 5c is the budget model, the 5 remains as a midrange option, and the 5s is the premium.

I agree with this. I have a feeling they'll finally kill off the iPod classic as well to put the 30 pin connector to rest.

I don't think the iPhone 5 will get discontinued. That's never happened in apples history.

"The New iPad"

...
I think there is still enough demand for them to not kill off the iPod Classic. The question becomes will they update the connector on the iPod Classic and I doubt it because the people who tend to buy the iPod Classic tend to have a lot of 30 pin items they use and there is nothing in it that needs the Lightning connector.

If they have a 128gb touch - then they will kill the classic - what they need to do is make a version of the nano with 128gb - some want the large capacity - but without the bulk of the 4" touch.

They will build what they can sell.

Why do so many people think that the 5 will be discontinued? The 4 and 4s are still in production.

If anything, those models will be discontinued as Apple probably wants everyone on some version of the 5 so they don't have to worry about supporting the old connectors and can focus on apps that are optimized for the longer screen.

I suspect they may be going for an "iPhone 5 for everyone!" marketing strategy where the 5c is the budget model, the 5 remains as a midrange option, and the 5s is the premium.
Makes sense.

Probably won't be discontinuing the 5. What's going to happen when people with apple care need a replacement?

How much is a brand new one, 16 Gb, black, factory unlocked unsealed one reselling for?

$650 I believe

"IF" they introduce 128GB iPhones and iPod touches, then they will probably kill the classic. They will push iPod only people to the iPod touch to sell more in their ecosystem.

Some of the older 30 pin items don't work with the latest gen iPod classics and I doubt it sells enough for Apple to worry about keeping it around once 128GB touchscreen devices are available.

Is there room for that much flash storage in the current nano?

If they discontinued the 5, that means there would be no flagship in the lineup until the iPhone 6 is made.

It would be like discontinuing the iPad for the iPad mini.

Dont have a clue what you are saying. If they discontinued the 5, the 5S will have been released, and that is the flagship

I'd hoard them. They'll be higher quality than what's replacing it you'd make a killing.

Doubt that. The 5C price is going to dictate the going rate for the 5 going forward, and seeing as how its a budget phone you can expect the price to be lower, there by devaluing the 5. So you if you buy up 5's now, you'd probably expect to be to sell them for less than the current rate, and you'd take a loss.

I think there is one thing that might keep 5's selling well actually is the OS, I have a feeling people aren't going to dig iOS 7 as much as 6.
