Brave souls installing an OS that has undergone such deep changes — on launch day.
Not for the faint of heart.

Pro Tip: Wait several months until the smoke clears (and major bugs get squashed)

Speaking as a frequent beta user: agreed, on all points -- with the sole exception being where security fixes are concerned.

(Some of us just enjoy getting to play with the new toys a little earlier than everyone else, that's all.)

But when will then be now?

Soon.

What's perhaps more important is that I believe your agreement to participate in the beta program basically concludes with that release; if you want to participate in the iOS 19 betas when they start to become available, you'll have to specifically select that release option in the automatic update settings, just as you did for the iOS 18 betas.

Not quite, as there will be a lot more betas of iOS 18 - 18.1, 18.2, etc.

If we want to stop using betas at any point, we can flip the beta switch to OFF in Settings > Software Update and that will be it.

I am planning to install the RC on Monday and then get off the beta train.

I have iPhone 15 pro. iOS 17.X latest. The phone is just 2 months old.
still runs hot As soon as I use the camera.
‘only solution is to power down and not use the camera.
Battery life drops 1% per minute.

will iOS 18 fix this?

iOS 18 public beta isn't ready for anyone to use daily. Tons of app crashes and general unstable behavior.

I have been using both iOS 18.0 and iPadOS 18.0 betas on my main devices since DB2 and, apart from a cellular dropouts in DB5 (fixed in DB6) have not experienced any unpleasantries.

In fact the changes are not as deep for iOS 18.0 (without AI elements), where they are mostly cosmetic. Once iOS 18.0 is out for general public, iOS 18.1 should be catching up quickly, bring ready for its October release.

Hard to tell, as it sounds that you have a faulty iOS 17 installation. So if you do a complete iOS 18 installation via Restore or IPSW route, it could help. Installing it OTA might not be enough.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see an iOS 17.7 release on September 17 or 18, too. The iOS 17.x code will then no longer get any upgrades except for security updates.

No need, as any iPhone that can run iOS 17 will also be able to run iOS 18.

I have a question about iOS 18 beta. I am on the latest beta and I still am not able to get it to play spatial audio or Dolby Atmos over AirPlay. I’m pretty sure I saw that as a feature. Is it just not released yet?

We have 2x iPhone 11 and 1x SE3 running latest beta and have had no problems w crashes.

I did notice the wallet icon in control center is blank. Works but nothing to identify what is for until tapping to open.

Very much loving the upgraded passwords functionality.

I haven't bothered installing it yet. Only thing I'm interested in is RCS, and my carrier hasn't enabled it yet.

Not much going on with the 15 (non-pro) and lower models.

Tried it on my iPad that's basically just a TV. It does actually seem less buggy than iOS 17, for what little I use it.

But the one thing I was hoping for was a little bit better Siri, and it seems entirely unchanged in 18, and neither the iPad nor phone support "Apple Intelligence."

I am looking forward to finally being able to arrange app icons on my screen without it being like a bomb going off.

They can still dance all over the place when you try to move something, somewhere else. Adding a widget, for example, can blow your carefully, curated layout to pieces with icons scattered seemingly randomly.

Icons can inexplicably refuse to be placed in a certain spot. You have to move other things around to eventually get it to the place you want it to be.

I hope we get a Pages icon that supports the new dark icons option. The bright orange icon stands out like a sore thumb through the entire beta phase.

I installed it.

I've got T-Mobile, RCS appears to work to one person I know who uses Android, the others show SMS.

On the iPhone TripLog crashed a few times on public beta 4, hasn't crashed since then.

On the iPad, I had to put it in DFU mode to wipe it & reinstall between beta 2 & 3, it would crash frequently on the earlier beta, was not able to stay stable long enough to install the update.

100%

I’m a little concerned!!! Springboard crashes frequently. I can’t believe Apple feel this is now ready for delivery.
