The iPhone Air is not light, it weighs just as much as my current iPhone 13 (which I have named 'Chunky' due to its weight).

First of all, the Air is indeed lighter than your 13 (165 vs. 174 gr.) while - more importantly - having a much bigger display. And secondly, have you held an Air yet? It feels a lot lighter still than the numbers would suggest because the weight is distributed over a larger area. It is a very pronounced psychological effect, same as with the latest, super-thin iPads Pro.

If the second camera (if the Air 2 indeed gets it) will be a tele, I‘m in.

Apple should do the tele camera instead of ultra-wide. That would provide additional uniqueness rather than just copying the non-Pro iPhone. The Air also needs to find a way to get the stereo speaker.

I hope Apple doesn’t give up on the Air as it is something different from the other iPhones. For most people, the battery life is great as is and will continue to improve with each version.

Apple need to shove a silicon carbon battery in there. The Oneplus 15 has a 7200mah battery (in the USA!) that lasts for 3 days and charges from 0-100 in an hour.
& has a shorter battery life due to expansion… 👎🏻

  • Fall 2026 (Likely September): iPhone 18, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and a foldable iPhone
  • Spring 2027 (Likely March): iPhone 18, iPhone 18e, and potentially an iPhone Air 2

Iphone 18 in September and march …….. 🙄

Gurman never said any such thing.
Apparently reading an article is difficult for you.

Gurman said that adding an ultra-wide camera to the iPhone Air is "technically possible," but he believes that it would be a "strange" decision, given the device's so-called "plateau" is already crowded and that it "seems like a lot of work for a phone that few people are buying." However, features like a second camera and longer battery life could make the iPhone Air far more appealing and boost demand for the device.

We'll probably get an Air 2 as these are designed well in advance so scrapping it now would be a waste, but if they drop the Air altogether it will be after the Air 2 is out.

I can read just fine. What you did was take what Mark said out of context so you could insult me.

1) Mark doesn't have access to the total number of Air sales
2) "that few people are buying..." (in comparison to the other models) refers to what he said later in the article that you didn't bother posting.
3) Mark did not say the Air was a flop.

"While there have been several reports indicating that iPhone Air demand is low, Apple only ever expected the device to make up "6% to 8%" of new iPhone sales, according to Gurman. It is unclear if Apple achieved that objective, but its internal bar might be low enough that it will still proceed with releasing an iPhone Air 2 in 2027."

Nothing was taken out of context, those are Gurman's words. Apparently you being an Air lover can't handle the truth.

Apple need to go back to their roots and start innovating again.

The next phone product should be a small, light phone (8-sized, or mini-sized or perhaps based in the iPod Touch), weighing around 100g and costing $349 for the base model. It would have one camera, the present chipset, small screen and reduced features. This single product has the potential to increase iOS penetration of the worldwide market to 40% or more (presently 25-30%), with the rest taken up by Android.

Better still, make it $299 and just clean up the phone business, >50% iOS worldwide!

Can’t care less. While my 13 mini still goed strong I do keep an eye on Apple maybe one day releasing a new mini.

No need for high performance, AI, tele photo, Lidar nor advanced health. I just wish Apple would make a decent phone without all fashionable tech & design: just a no-nonsense mini with a focus on boring professional use. I’m a boring guy, I’m a boring CTO, I just need a proper small sized iPhone to do my job. For now, I’m still very happy with my 13 mini.

We need a mini 18, 19 or the anniversary 20 sounds even better.
The Fold phones are just making the phones bigger - into an iPad.

I wait for flip or a new mini, and a new CEO with some style too.
Haha I agree 100%, I really wish the mini came back or that they’d alternate between mini and Plus each year.

Ironically, I went from only the Plus models up to the 7 Plus, got the 12 mini, then a Galaxy Fold 3, back to 13 mini, and now a 15 PM. I love the small formfactor but now I love alternating. If there’s a new mini and Fold, I’d be torn.

As a couple of commenters suggested the smaller flip phone could be attractive. Fold the Air in half like a clam shell. Prioritising the smaller flip over the larger fold is my preference 2026.
