As a developer I can say I've had fewer issues with this beta than ios 7 but everyone's experience is different. I don't have issues sending texts either however I have encountered a few different bugs but they were small and bug reports have been made.

[MOD NOTE]
Stay on topic, and enough with the arguing and bickering.

iOS 7 was similar early on as well but I don't recall as many bugs making the phone and anything else nearly unusable and undoable as this go around. With any luck there will be big strides made with this next update as there was from 2-3 or 3-4 last year, can't remember but one update was a quantum leap, and the ship will be righted. Until then my experience using iOS 8 on a personal and professional level can best be described as poor. The irony is I think it actually got worse from Beta 1 to Beta 2.

Not soon enough. Beta 2 has turned really ugly for me over the past 2 days. Tons of black screen lockouts requiring hard reboots. And these aren't for 3rd party apps -- these are things like Phone is the only app open, I'm on a call in good service area and BOOM phone is black and dead -- bring on Beta 3!

Hate to sound generic but have you tried a fresh install straight to beta 2?

I typically consider such advice to be unnecessary however I had some issues with ios7 beta that carried over to GM. Just assumed it was bugs they hadn't fixed but when 7.1 came out and issues persisted I did a fresh install and all issues went away.

I'll also add bugs I've experienced on my iPad air currently on ios 8 beta 2 is being unable to use the app switcher to change apps. They always crash. I have to go to home screen then either use multitasking or go to the app to launch without a crash. This isn't present on my iPhone 5S.

Just some of my personal experiences and I only suggest a refresh because I'm not seeing the issues you have so maybe a fresh install may fix it?

Regardless as you can see I've had odd issues previously as well and I typically have 40-50gigs used so a fresh install takes hours..

Like you waiting for beta 3.
Most beta 2' last 15-20 days so hoping for a surprise this week but realize it may be next week. I personally think when they hit their predetermined milestone it'll ship which could even mean a weekend release, has happened before but IDK about a holiday weekend release.

Fair question. Unfortunately I did, and attached a copy of a post in another thread below. Exhausted every option I could think of to make sure it wasn't me. :)

On the storage end thankfully most of the time the 16GB has been enough so I tend to stay in that range. Still takes a while to sync everything after a clean install or restore from backup. Can't imagine waiting longer. Ug.

Here is a copy of one of the posts I made from the other thread:

"That stinks. Beta 2 has been a pretty poor experience for me.

Clean VS Upgrade didn't matter. iTunes VS OTA didn't matter. New Phone VS Restore From Backup didn't matter.

Such is life."

Hopefully the longer time to Beta 3 is to really iron out some of these things. Maybe we need a Beta 2.5 in the meantime.

People keep saying next Tuesday but surely it would be fair to suggest it could still be anytime this week as Apple don't exactly have a track record of uniformly releasing new betas every 2 weeks.

They have almost always done it at 2 week intervals followed by 3 week intervals later in the process.

IOS7 Beta 6 came out late in the day on a Thursday.. And beta 5 only a week after beta 4... there is no definate patern.

This is supposed to be a happy occasion. Let's not bicker and argue about who killed who...

I was really hoping b3 would come out yesterday. Having significant freezes and issues requiring hardboots, or I'd be typing and it would lock up and respring, some really crazy stuff.

Dont fret. The longer its in development the better it will be.

I'm not sure about y'all, but I'd rather wait a week longer for a more stable release rather than have more bugs release sooner this week. You see what happened when they rushed themselves with beta 2

I'm not sure if you developers have had a chance to play with Android L, but it's extremely stable in "developer preview" form than iOS 8 beta 2. I have a Nexus 5 for android development and a 5c for ios development. The only issues I've ran in to with L is some apps not being officially supported (HBO Go).

With that said, all the crashes and hard resets is making iOS 8 near impossible to develop for. I hope to have a stable OS soon so I can test as much as possible before GM.

Apple tries to release a new beta a month before the expiration of the current beta if they can.

iOS 7 beta 1 had an expiration date of July 24, and beta 2 came out on June 24.
Then iOS 7 beta 2 expired on August 8, with Beta 3 coming out July 8.
And then Beta 3 expired August 29 with Beta 4 coming out July 29.
The pattern stopped after Beta 4.

So iOS 8 beta 1 expires July 16, and Beta 2 came out June 16.
iOS 8 beta 2 expires August 7.

My prediction is Monday, July 7.

EDIT: iOS 8 beta 2 actually came out on June 17, so it is possible for Beta 3 to come on the 8th

I think that is a fairly good prediction.

As a developer, one usually activate traces and logs to pinpoint bugs. Apple should have activated some of them, so they are sent automatically. And that is why the B2 has been deteriorating over time. That, and the fact that beta software is not getting compiled optimized for performance, or stability, but for tracing, logging and testing.
I came back to 7.1.1, since I couldn't stand the freezes, the lost of notifications, and whatsapp crashing. I rely heavily on it. Sadly, it might not be fixed with the newer beta, since is 3rd party software, but I have my hopes up.

What I do really miss is the ability to mark as read and delete right on the lock screen. Or swiping left and right on the mail app. Great work Apple!!! Love you:p
