I am curious on the Phone call recording and transcription. I do like my visual voicemail so far but wondering how this phone recording a conversation is recorded or stored.

Happy to be corrected if I’m wrong (it’s likely) but I suspect it’s done ‘on device’ - the transcript option when using Visual Voicemail is finally available in the UK, when I tested it out (by calling myself) there was an option to share it with Apple for training purposes.

Maybe the same for Phone Call Recording and Transcription?

iOS 18 got so much stuffs on it that it will take a while to know how to navigate through the entire iOS efficiently. Some may master it in days, while others may take a while to master. Artificial Intelligence integrated with iOS 18 is a bit overwhelming. I'm learning the iOS 18 as we speak. I'm in the process of upgrading the 16 Pro Max.

My understanding of the AI features is that it addresses precisely the problem you face with so many features. In theory, just ask your phone what you want to do. It can likely do it for you or, if you ask, tell you how to do it manually. And there's no need to push to use new features. I may not use much new until such time as I need something. I'll scan through its capabilities but then mostly file that in the back of my mind until I have a need. Eventually my daily habits will evolve to use these features more.

iOS 18.1 PB is terrible on my iPhone 15 Pro Max. Typing, swiping and touching the screen is sluggish and unresponsive at times.

Just because they are added you don’t have to use them right away. There won’t be a test.
exactly. The key to good software is to make it super simple for anyone wanting to do simple things, and super capable for anyone that needs that enough to learn a bit more. The key to AI is to bridge the gap between the two.

Late october and then full-on Apple AI releases i December sound too quick. I'm hoping for early October.

Expecting to see it by end of October. Cannot wait to try it out on my 15 Pro Max

18.1 patch wil be welcome for many reasons.

I am looking forward to trying the AI on the watch. Last night for kicks I had siri tell a bedtime story off my watch with my kid at bedtime. It was bloody weird, can't wait until Siri is smarter.

Siri in german language: Bad

every review is saying the 16 is unfinished because it lacks the promised AI features, but the promised AI features aren't even useful. how many times will you realistically use these

Apple is advertising Apple Intelligence for the iPhone 16 models yet the phones won’t have AI for a month after release. I feel incredibly stupid picking up the 16 Pro Max right now when there’s no available AI features. Apple should make it very clear there’s no AI on their devices until the end of October.
Is it really such a big issue? Sure it’s not 100% correct to do the advertising and not have those features ready but we’re talking about ~1 month and not a year or so.
Don’t see the point of feeling stupid because you bought a 16 Pro phone. It’s a pretty nice smartphone with a lot of functionality.
Furthermore as a member of these forums you were for sure aware of the slight delay of the AI features and that they will be added in stages during the iOS 18 lifetime (most likely up until 18.4).

I think sometimes there is a crazy and partially funny bubble of a mismatch between advertising, complaining and real life usage scenarios.
Some people are only happy if they can complain about anything.

I think that visual intelligence might be good, I was thinking last night it would have come in handy for something instead of taking a pic and doing a search
