So was doing a review for my iPad and safari crashes, I can do this by opening 3 tabs and on the fourth one pick the apple website and boom crash lol
Ton of other apps have force closed on me. Not enjoying my air at all :/
I've had mine since release day. Haven't had safari crash on me yet. What sites are you on? Which apps specifically are you talking about a 'ton of crashing on you'?
Genuinely interested. I'm incredibly happy with the 5s and my Air. I've spent the last two days and a good 18-20 hours using it extensively with several music making apps as well as browsing, Dropbox and Evernote which we've been using for collaboration.
My 5s since launch (&7.00) has rebooted and shown me the BSOD a couple of times but the 7.02/3 updates have all but eliminated them. Seen it reboot once since 7.03
Good for you Lucy. Unfortunately for others it is a VERY big deal, especially for what many have paid for their new iPad.
Agreed...but you're dealing with one of the very best companies on earth when it comes to A) returns and post purchase support...as well, B) a complete, ground up OS/UI rebuild, first gen 64bit mobile SoC and there are absolutely going to be 'challenges'. Don't like it? Take it back. Many of us have been through it, realized within the year of releasing the rMBP the developers have followed suit large and small...and if you believe, and understand the population with iOS devices on the market. The cash cow it is for Apple...and the monstrous development community in the background, you'll find out soon enough....these niggles will go away.
Isn't it kind of obvious with the very, VERY few real issues and complaints from 'unique' not redundant people on the forums that Apple has actually done a helluva job with the hardware and software this time around? A bad OS? Look at the first few generations of Android. Windows original phone OS, Vista...the list is long, and distinguished (by BIG companies). Problem free is NOT what you'll receive if you adopt early, expect perfection and lack patience for refinement.
The Air is absolutely the new standard in tablets. Period. Few refinements that Apple's surely aware of and feverishly working to resolve? Sure...you bet. But no one with common sense or cutting edge technology would believe for half a second we weren't in for some 'challenges'. No problems. Those tend to make your product unusable. Not the case with the Air, 5s or iOS 7. Read many professional reviews for clarification. Including Anand's extensive 'look' at the Air, the A7 and A8 instruction set (&5s).
Man, I really feel for all of you having this problem. My Air came with 7.0.3 installed and I haven't yet experienced this. I haven't tried beyond 4 Safari tabs open but so far, no crashes. It seems bizarre that some are experiencing this phenomenon and some are not.
I'm with you 100%. And we use iPads with the rMBPs up to 50/60 hours a week. We NEED them to function correctly. I'm extremely impressed so far. BTW, I tend to use iCab on my Air as my go to browser. It's been my choice since the iPad 2
It is bizzare - but that seems to be how it goes for every device: My battery sucks, mine is awesome, my iPad crashes, mine never does, my Screen has a pink tint, mine is perfect, etc, etc. This is making my head spin. Thread after thread of these draconian, deal-killer problems. But they only seem to happen to every 17th user. Or something. Bleh?
I swear, I keep looking at my screen and messing with Safari so I can "play too" with all these problems. But, I never have them happen to me. Did I get lucky? Is the QC really that random? Why arent severe crashes memory explosions headline news then? Why does none of this happen to reviewers when they review the things? Why? Why? How?
Vocal. Minority. These devices are produced in the millions. A defect rate of .01% is still 10,000 bad ones. And that's a pretty worthy goal. Those without issues are enjoying them. They've seemingly outsold any other iPad including last year's dual release 4/mini event. There ARE gonna be a few lemons. If you get one, you're MUCH more likely to hunt down a place to discuss it, find a cure, or see what you've done wrong.
iOS 7 is subjective
Seemingly a lot of the hardware issues seem to be attributed to new or recently registered MR members. Could be the first Google response when they inquire about their issue. Decide to come here and participate
I wouldn't dismiss the reviews. There are a lot of them and seemingly ubiquitous. It's a home run in every review I've read
that stopped the itunes radio crashes , but not my asphalt 8 crash or other apps randomly force closing on me. not on 1 but 2 ipads lol from apple not best buy or other. so yes there are many with perfect experiances but i coudlnt stand safari reloading my webpage every other tab. luckily we have options as everyone else has cought up and apple is rushing their software out the door without testing ... just look at what the retina macbook 13 needed...
No other software developer of operating systems are immune. Android is still figuring things out. Windows just released 8.1 to address a LOT of issues with 8.0. Apple isn't rushing anything and have fixed the issue in the 13". Even though it affected a small population. Apple is definitely 'on top' of iOS. It's the reason they're worth what they're worth. It won't be neglected.
And luckily with our two Airs we've experienced nothing like yourself. We'll be buying a pair of the new Minis as well. This A7 chip, display, speed, connectivity....and as a reformed iOS 7 non-appreciator, I'm now digging it. Try iCab. Try Mercury. Try Atomic. Lots of excellent third party browsers for the iPad. I also like Dolphin and Opera. Skyfire works great when Mayweather fights

And I love Chrome on iOS7. You're not stuck using safari for general surfing. Even opening a link, copy and paste it to your favorite browser.
Many, MANY app developers have updated their code already. I get as many as a half dozen updates a day. More sure to come as EVERYone figure out the new instruction set, how to take advantage of the A7 and with ubiquity across their lineup...app developers will soon face a significantly easier time developing, producing and releasing incredible software.
BTW...I Love Asphalt 8 on my Air and 5s. Never a crash. Been playing it since day one. Never an issue. It's amazingly responsive, fast to open and incredibly detailed.
I guess what I'm saying isephmusic, if you're unlucky enough to get two bad ones in a row....there should be absolutely NO reason you'll get a third bad one. If that's the actual case. There will be problem units. Apple is extremely happy to 'capture' them for their techs and learn from what happened.
