I am from India and I have been on iPhone since 3G model and I used to upgrade phones every 2 years, primarily since I get a decent resale from the old phone plus launch time deals. I am currently on 11 Pro, and 13 Pro would have been a normal upgrade. This time though I am not convinced and here is why.

Even if I make use of GST credit and discount looking at paying about 1.05 Lakhs INR (1430$!) for the new 256 GB 13 Pro Vs US price converted would be still about 88k INR with taxes. Let's say I manage to sell the old phone for 40k INR, still paying 60k INR (815$) for the device in India.

For:
  • An improvement in camera, screen, better processor and battery life.

Against:
  • 11 Pro is still under apple care, showing 95% battery, can easily take another year of my usage without having issues.
  • Apple care for new phone is some 23k INR (313$) since they upgraded to Care + Vs some 4-5k (55$) earlier.
  • The camera usage still would be 10% of my use, for me the newer chip would have provided maximum benefit along with slightly better battery back up, which is not at all show slower, forget stopper lol.
  • Apple does not even offer a charger or a ear phone buds anymore after paying such a premium.

Apple care and the phone accessories though looks trivial, may have been a decision changer for me when am paying big bucks I feel...

In short first time since I moved to iPhone, I don't feel that YOLO or special feeling towards the new iPhone... I think I will just wait for another year or more..
There is absolutely no need for a upgrade „cycle“. I mean, the Phone Carrier had a 1€ Nokia phone for every 2y contract. And this still in mind for many people. But the phone got more advanced. I bought a 3GS in 2010, right bevor the iPhone 4 was launched (I didn‘t know), and upgraded to a iPhone 5 on release day. And it was necessary. Same with the upgrade from 5 to 6 2years later. The iPhone 6 stayed for 3 years and bought the iPhone 8 Plus which I still use. I‘m a really big Apple enthusiast, but I love to make big jumps like now from the 8+ to 13PM

iPhone 13 Pro, 256GB, Sierra Blue, ordered. My Apple credit card wouldn’t work for the damn order! I had to switch to my normal credit card. What the hell Apple?

For all the people saying not to upgrade, depends on the deal. I can trade in my iPhone 11 Pro for an iPhone 13 Pro 128GB for $30 upgrade fee, so why wouldn't I do that? (likely getting 256GB for $2.xx more per month) Sure, if you are paying full retail and you have to try to sell your old phone yourself, it may not be worth it, but for me, it's totally worth it to upgrade with the $1000 deal from AT&T. Better 5G, better cameras, better battery life. Stupid not to upgrade.

do you understand you only see that $1000 total IF you keep the new phone 36 months ie the FULL CONTRACT LENGTH.

Wow. My Jan 2020 iPhone 11 is at 84%. I don't know how it degraded so rapidly.
Bad battery I guess, my iPhone X battery went bad after a couple of years and expanded, that was replaced and the new one is now at 86% after 2 years.

Just my luck I guess. I'm giving this phone to my wife once my 13 Pro arrives. Once it gets closer to 80% I'll take it in and pay for a battery replacement.

He is definitely the most enthusiast Apple fan here at least!
I remember when I first saw that account posting. It was always posting ridiculous statements and just flat out wrong things. It got ripped apart by users replying. But now it just seems like a paid shill.

How do you get it in your cart on the website? I can’t do that on mine. I tried a few times, but I have to go through the selection steps each time. Weird.
obviously it's too late now, but when I went to the page that would be normally "buy it" I configured it and at the bottom it asked I wanted to pre-prepair the order. This morning all I had to doo was click place order.
