Moan all you want, I doubt Apple will listen. I’m happy with my 17 Pro.

I'm not bothered as I'm happy with my Air. But as stated earlier, the discussion about the material not being as durable is a valid discussion.

Even if you would rather try to shut people up. Nobody is telling you to be unhappy with your 17 Pro.

Also as a 15 pro max user before upgrading to the 17 Pro max I am fine with my 17 pro max purchase and plan to keep it until the iPhone 19 or 20. Was anyone else here on these forums when Jerry Rig's 15 Pro max durability test video dropped? The back shattered instantly in his hand and everyone was trashing titanium and saying that it feels less premium/ cheap compared to the stainless steel build on the 14 pro max. Then of course "heatgate" got added on and people said the phone was terrible. Yet now, people don't mind and think the phone is fine. I feel like the same will happen here. Like I mentioned, cosmetic damage sucks but as long as the phone still functions after drops is all that really matters. A case can hide chips and dings at the end of the day. Nothing can hide a shattered screen.

This, so much this. Apple's been making aluminum iPhones for years but slap the Pro name on it. and hoo boy.

I just don't understand people who know that they're buying an aluminum iPhone (or don't return it) and then whine that they have an aluminum iPhone. That's ... not a good look for them. They should really just vote with their wallet and not buy an aluminum iPhone in the first place.

With all the damage being talked about in this thread, you'd think people were playing frisbee golf with their phones. Yikes!

Day 48 Update -

The 17 Pro’s still immaculate after a quick clean and looks like it’s fresh out of the box and has never been used.

The thing I am most surprised about is how well the TechWovem case has withstood daily use. It began to get a little grimy so I cleaned it with a some dishwashing liquid and a toothbrush and it looks brand new again!

It appears that all the hysteria surrounding the build quality and materials was much ado about nothing.

I'll add to this too. I give my black TW case a little spray with my TV screen cleaner of all things, circular motion for cleaning, comes up like new every time. No sign of wear, or knocks, or scratches, or anything. Nice durable case.

My phone is/was also the same, until last night. I was walking down my stairs and it slipped out of my pocket, caseless: it bounced down 3 steps, hit the skirting board (scraping the paint off the skirting no less!), and hit the floor on its bottom corner and landed face down. It was Schrodingers broken iPhone for a few moments. However, I picked it up, inspected it thoroughly: the only damage it sustained is the *tiniest* pin prick of a mark: so small my wife couldn't see it (theres a joke there somewhere!). Don't get me wrong, it's not something I'd want to do again, but I feel a little more confident knowing that it took that kind of drop and strike and it came up ok. And, TBH, I can't even really see it today-you can't even feel the mark.

I had my iPhone 17 pro max in deep blue since launch day (so about two months of use). I have dropped it three times but it's been in a case. Some people were saying their phones were still getting dented or chipped while in cases and I think that was BS. Mine is still in excellent condition. I have the D Brand Ghost Case (sold at Best Buy and online). I can't recommend it enough. It's clear, and light weight and you barely notice it. One of my other friends is brave and been going case less on is orange 17 pro max and has dropped it TWICE in the span of two weeks. It has a small chip that is barely noticeable on the bottom left corner but no dent after being dropped on the sidewalk. Phone still looks great even with the small chip.

I doubt any of us will ever definitively know if it was just Apple penny pinching to go back to Aluminum. There’s certainly a high chance of it, but there’s no point going on and on about it.

Either buy the phone or don’t. I came close to not upgrading because I do prefer titanium, but I decided I wanted the camera and battery gains and the 12gb or RAM, in case they actually ever ship this enhanced Siri.

I’m still much more pissed at Apple for their marketing crap last year. I never got what was promised to me when I bought a 16 pro.
They screwed you over last year and then you reward them by giving them your money and upgrading again this year.... This is a perfect example of why Apple can keep getting away with the crap they pull

Without case not so good condition can’t avoid scratches on chamfered edges
Ahh. If you had never dropped it though I think it would be in perfect condition as these old phones are pretty solid. I have a 6S and 8 also in immaculate condition which shows the aluminium phones aren’t problematic.
