Well, my wife's from East St Louis (our son still lives nearby).

I guess that doesn't count, though, as currently we live in the UK..:D

We'll be visiting for thanksgiving though :)

New Lenox. Which is right next to joliet.

Lots of people at my school (University of St. Francis, Joliet) live in New Lenox, though I've never been there. I hear it's nice and quiet.

I always wonder if I'll want to enjoy the suburban life. I have friends who are also getting married and having kids who LOVE the suburbs. However, I am having a baby in February, and getting married next October. We're already looking to move back into Chicago. I don't understand the appeal to country/suburban life aside from what Polo said. I think it's pretty safe in Mt. Greenwood/Beverly. I don't know if I'd leave all my stuff unlocked though :D

my friend's sister goes there.

Polo is a town of 2000.

Our closest real mall is 45 miles away. (There is a small one 14 miles away with many shuttered storefronts.) The closest Apple store is 90 miles away.

We don't lock our cars when parked, or even our front doors. I don't know where our house keys are.

Our kids are safe on the streets.

Small town living is really great.:)

Digging up an old thread ... I'm right up the road in Forreston but I work in Chicago

I'm from Grand Chain, which is at the very southern tip of IL. Right now I live in Carbondale and attend SIU (as is evident from my name and signature), and for the record, there is nothing wrong with Southern IL. I can imagine it would be quite a change from Chicago, but I enjoy the laid back way of life down here, not to mention all of the parks, forests, and everything else nature has to offer.
