If you have your settings set to 4k, does it only play the 4k aerials? Is there any way to change that (without eliminating 4k playbgack)? I only have maybe 10 or less that it cycles through. Only one space one was added. and a third of them are traffic ones which I hate.

I had a few dozen before the update but they're almost all gone. I now have 5 including 2 from NASA. I've always been set for daily updates - we'll see what happens.

I don’t see any screensaver when I select apple photos like nature landscape in tvos 12. Is this a bug? Any suggestions? Aerial works btw

As I wrote in another thread I am on tvOS 12 since beta 1 and I have never seen the NASA screensavers. Yesterday I have also tried to change the settings to change screensaver from "Daily" to "Never" and then back to "Daily" as suggested in Reddit, but I didn't get any new one.

I've seen at least 2, maybe 3, of the Space Screensavers. I do like the ability to see names...and even swipe to the next aerial view. I've only seen them during the daylight hours and haven't check during the evening/night.

I just noticed last night a second screen saver from the ISS. It's the one that goes over Siberia at night. So, that's two.

Have been on tvOS 12 since first beta release - still haven't seen any new screensavers, and downloads set to "Daily".

I am always spammed by Los Angeles/California, Hong Kong and United Arab Emirates screenshots, a snowy one from Greenland and today the one from the desert is missing..

EDIT: Oh well, one finally appeared!! Flying over Pacific Ocean. Now I am happy! :D

There are now three on my ATV. Siberia/Mongolia, and two Pacific ones. There’s also a new 4K version of a Hong Kong from the old set.

The time of day thing has never worked since they started with these aerial screensavers on the ATV4

The new screensavers are very nice though.
That they are. I just wish there was more of them. After over a year of the 4K I only just learned that we lost a lot of them in the transition. I swear when they were first introduced, Apple touted they had been all recorded in 4K or above and downscaled.

They were indeed filmed in 4K as I know the company that did all the London sequences. But, I wish Apple would open up the screensaver API though, let 3rd parties release footage over the store. Been asking them for the past couple of years as my company would be all over this with content.

Another new ISS screensaver today. This one is going from the Horn of African all the way over into western China :)

I've been enjoying the NASA ISS screen savers since they became available. Watching the one that flies over the Korean Peninsula, I noticed several lights and bright flashes that appear over the ocean. My son and I were speculating about what would be at sea and bright enough to be seen from space- oil platforms? fishing boats? And what would the bright flashes be?

Aircraft navigation lights. There's on which start over the north Atlantic heading towards the British Isles, there's loads of the strobes over the ocean.

Not seen the Korean one as of yet, but they seem to be cycling way more than they did previously.

Lightning.

I think what you see is the gaussian blur of the last image used as a backdrop layer. Apple uses this technique in many places in tvOS.
Album cover art during music playback is one example.
