I know what MBP I want get. Just looking for a place that is cheaper (IE Amazon, Ebay, etc) then going to Apple. A few bucks here and there is saving money right?

So where did you guys get MBP at?

I think you are looking in the right places. Amazon and eBay are the cheapest places I have seen when looking for new, sealed, unopened MacBook Pros....usually find them a couple hundred dollars cheaper than buying from Apple.

I originally got my 2007 MacBook Pro from a local camera store that sells Apple computers, but I paid MSRP. I have been looking around, and I've decided that for my next one it's either going to be Amazon or eBay.

I got mine from the Apple Education Store online a few months ago for the back to school promo. I just can't bring myself to trust eBay for something as important and expensive as a computer, even if the seller has five stars. I've been ripped off so many times before, even by sellers that look reputable. Amazon's prices are $50 more expensive than those of the education store, so it was a no-brainer for me.

I got mine for about 15% less than RRP from Apple, just called them, told them I wanted to get a MBP and said the magic line; "What can you do for me?"

Won't always work, depends on who you get, but a lot of the time, they are more than happy to do something a little more to make you happy.

Also, got a free magic mouse with mine.

I got mine from an eBay store who is an authorized dealer for Apple. At the time, there was Bing Cashback of 8%. I got immediate cashback of $127 + free shipping. If you can buy with some kind of rewards, get it that way.

I'm getting mine in a local licensed retailer with education discount.

The waiting time is killing me!!!

I am tracking a 15" 2.66GHz i7 Hi-Res MacBook Pro with the 7200rpm HD right now on eBay, auction ends today. Anything less than $2100 would be great for this machine. It's new, sealed, unopened. Bid is at $2055 now.

Apple would charge you $2400 for this configuration, new.

Edit: Bid is not up to $2200 for this.

You can get $200 off from the apple store using the student discount. Anybody can do it, even if you aren't a student.

I thought that ended back in September? Or am I thinking about the wrong thing?

However I think next time I"ll be getting it from amazon. You pretty much get the student discount without having to pay any tax. Double win.

I was a student but I graduated in 2006. I still have my student ID. Will this work?

Lol my student ID is from 2004 and i scratched the exp date off and just flashed it to the guy and he was ok with it. He was pretty cool though.
But yeah the student discount is pretty easy to get. Just find someone to come with you thats in college worse case scenario.

Has anyone seen the "sealed in box" MacBook Pros on Craigslist?
I would be wary of trying that but hey they are a couple hundred cheaper..

apple.ca....i told them i was a college student, got a free printer and saved 100$ off mbp.

and the best part is IM NOT IN COLLEGE. TAKE THAT APPLE. :p:cool::D

Ebay for 200 under cost and it was a brand new 2.4 15 inch i5 just got it today. Love it
