I bought my 15" MBP at Macconnection.com last week--$1599. No tax and no shipping. Absolutely great service. Delivered to my door in about four days after I ordered. I spoke to their customer service a couple of times and they were always very helpful

I would never buy a new computer from Ebay. I was going to buy my computer at Amazon or the Refurbished online store, but then I just went to the Apple Store since they had the back to school promotion.

I got my 15" i7 MacBook Pro @ BestBuy...

Really surprised no one mentioned Powermax.com, they run their whole operation on Macs and no tax except Oregon, very reputable and they take trades ins on apple products.

I just got my new MacBook Pro last week from Amazon. Thanks to free shipping and no tax it ended up being cheaper than the refurbished model.

I'm surprised I'm only the 2nd person to say BEST BUY.

They are the ONLY retailer who offers accidental damage coverage. And their policy? If they can't fix it, they replace it. If you have patience, you could potentially end up with a brand new one in a couple of years for the price of a service plan. Not to mention peace of mind (for myself at least). Not to mention matching the educational discount (got my 13" MBP for $1099+tax), Reward Zone points, and special financing. WIN FOR ME!

(Please don't anyone try to dispute me, let's stay on topic ... seems to be a lot of Best Buy haters around the MR boards, so let's just focus our attention on the question at hand:D)

Apple retail store, they were the only ones still stocking the previous model and could offer me student discount plus ridiculously cheap AppleCare.

i bought mine off of ebay brand new in box, a 15in 2.53i5 with 8gb of memory and also was included was 3year applecare for $1999usd

Got my MacBook Pro 15" i7 w/hi-res anti glare at portable one.
It was $2270! This is how much it cost from apple $2,572.

Ok picked up a 15" i7 HR AG. Got it with 500gb 5400RPM as i'm going to upgrade it to an SSD real soon. I bought it at the Apple store. I could not wait a week so I guess I paid premium for it. Anyways, i'm happy with my purchase. The HR AG is the best upgrade ever! lol. Thx everyone for your help. :apple:

Cannot go wrong with Apple store ... works for me

get the base unit from Apple store and all the accessories elsewhere

Amazon. I got a 17" Core i5 MBP in the base configuration for $2,092 with free shipping and no tax. It arrived well packaged and in perfect condition. With tax from Apple, it would have cost $2,489, so I saved $397.

Primary choice for standard systems is a refurb from Apple, going via the DiscoverCard site which gives a 5% discount. Custom systems from Apple online, usually using my educational discount if I haven't reached the 1 system/year limit. I've also bought several directly at the Apple store. I frequently take advantage of the free printer deals, usually giving the printers away as gifts. Also the free iPods in the back-to-school promotions.

I've got no reason to buy from anywhere else since there is no tax (in Oregon) to consider and Apple also has free shipping like the others. I also work about a 5-10 minute walk from an Apple Store.

I also work less than 2 miles from Powermax, but they don't have a retail storefront and end up being more expensive than Apple after considering Apple's promotions. Other local possibilities here include Best Buy (which I wouldn't buy from for any reason) and Fry's Electronics. There's also a retail outlet for Powermax called The Mac Store, I believe. Anyway none of them are less expensive than the Apple Store.

I'm a fairly big customer of Amazon and B&H Photo-Video, but no advantage to buy from either of them.

Apple Retail Store - Fifth Avenue.

I'll probably get my next one here in the UK with Higher Education discount.
