Bought my aluminum MacBook (my first Mac) from a guy in Craigislist (back in March of 09), sealed and new. Met up at a Coffee Bean. Saved a few hundred bucks.

We usually get our Macs from Apple directly but I've bought stuff through Amazon before. Amazon Prime kicks major ass for things like computer purchases.

Apple Store; pretty much the only place you can get the new model first day of release.

Amazon, sells them for about $50 less than at the Apple store. They also have free shipping and no State tax (for my State anyway).

is the OP from CA?

pretty much the only customizations from macmall are ram and hard drive, newegg those.
I just haven't noticed the customize my mac section on ebay or craigslist yet.

Yes. I'm in LA, CA

Same here as some, microcenter for the 13 inch macbook pro for 999 plus tax for the fiance, and 15 inch i7 from apple with 200 off education discount.

After a lot of research, and making contact with an eBay seller, I purchased mine from eBay. 17" MBP June 09.

Again - ebay after a lot of research including why people give negative feedback from a seller.

Saved around 250 pounds on the Apple UK price and I regestered it with Apple with no problems at all.

If you want to spend 1200 pounds on a macbook pro do you research first and don't buy the cheapest one you see. Ask about warranties as well. A good seller will give you all the info.

iStudio at Emporium Shopping mall in Bangkok

I was already late to work for 1 hour, cuz i wanted to get one with student discount but they said I have to wait 2 weeks. So I just walked in and said ok wrap this one for me, straight away.

Online Apple store using education discount (CTO), yea paid little extra with tax but having peace of mind with something expensive was worth it

Got my original 2007 MBP from an Apple Store so I could get a 10% discount (offered by my company on Apple products).

My i5 came directly from Apple (China) as a replacement for the 2007.

Bought my Mac's straight from Apple: refurbished

Seems like MacConnection.com has the best price for certain models new when you add the savings from a rebate and no sales tax

I got mine from macmall, great discount (about $150), no tax in FL, and really cheap shipping. Overall great service and delivered on time.

Probably a good option if you are going with a stock configuration.

But so far I haven't seen anything that beats the education discount from Apple?

Local Apple Store. Didn't want to play the waiting game.

I know how you feel. But I made mine to wait 7 days to get it (stupid Fedex delay)...

I was so impatient waiting at home and at job. LOL So anxious about the door bell to ring.
