English is also my 2nd language but when I type or talk at least people can understand what I'm trying to say.
Every post that the op posted didn't make any sense and I wasn't able to comprehend. it wasn't just a typo.
But thanks for your ignorant attack, maybe you were the only one that understands what he was posting.

Even worse, then you should know what it is like trying to LEARN a new language. :rolleyes: Looks to me like a lot of others understood him as well. ;)

My point was simply to cut the guy some slack. Sorry that the last couple of posts sounded harsh. I just get tired of seeing folks attacked (not saying you did) for not speaking their language of choice. ;)

This is an english based forum for Apple products. Anyone having trouble should go on a spanish forum, having people who can not understand each other is not good.

He was calling someone out, he was suggesting that he would write in english so that the rest of the readers like can understand it. That in no way an ignorant post.
 
^^^ why it's an english forums i can post because my english it' not good lol then not going to a vacation on china or others countries because u can speak their language

How many post do you see in Spanish or Chinese or maybe Arabic. Maybe we could have somebody wright in Spanish and somebody reply in Arabic. Your thinking maybe people will translate via google translator? People can't even do a normal google search such as where is Geohot. ;) How to jailbreak firmware version ???? Good luck with that.

Please feel free to point me to the rule that states that English is required to post on this forum? Maybe there should be a proficiency test just to create an account...

The fact is that not everyone on this plant speaks English and he is making an effort.

@OP - Honestly Hotz in my opinion is a wash up. I don't say that to be disrespectful but far to many people consider him a god for his work on the iPhone. Any skilled hacker could have done the same thing however did not dedicate the time to it like Hotz did. Does Hotz have some skill, sure I don't think anyone can deny that however he isn't the only one out there.

New hackers/crackers/coders will come, some will leave for new and interesting things. It's silly to think or even consider one person as the "savior" for a hack and frankly I think many Defcon attendee's would agree.

Before anyone even asks, yes I attend Defcon and have done so for the last 10 years (I missed a couple years due to travel expense)

well said I think Geohot has s spot in the hackers hall of fame. He is now in the tassel world making real money. There will be others to take his place. I also agree with his decision to break away as much as possible. Since it's the only way he can move forward with his life. People forget he doesn't owe anybody anything.

While we don't officially have a national language, it is expected that you learn English before becoming a citizen of the United States. It is basically the official language by default.

And honestly, it's one thing if the guy makes a couple spelling mistakes and uses the wrong homophone, but his English is so atrocious that you can't even get a faint idea of what he's trying to say. In that situation, people are more than justified in calling him out IMO.

All of the threads here are in English, and it is expected that discussion in said thread will be in English. If the forum has any language-specifc subforums, he can speak Spanish all he wants over there. I am not about to visit a Spanish forum, butcher an attempt to ask something, and then get all pissy about people not knowing what I said.

And for the record, I do speak two languages; English is actually my second language. I'm a human being like anyone else; if I can manage to learn English to the point where I can converse with native speakers without issue, then I don't see why others cannot.


Anyway about Geohot - he's most likely not coming back. I'm sure he makes jailbreaks for himself just so he doesn't have to wait on any public tools though.

I think you are forgetting about limera1n... That is his and is still used on everything but the newest devices. In fact, during practically the last half of the 4.x release cycle, limera1n was the basis for all the other jailbreaks. Other people just found the methods to untether it, though it was and is still required.
 
Plus dont forget this is a whole new ballgame with the 4S and IOS5, I dont think Geohot can jailbreak it anyway. He was good back then, but that was years ago, he just doesnt have the skills needed for the new game.:p
