Looks quite nice. A few things bother me. For instance:

"These are exact JEDEC and SPD Mac Pro spec modules and
have the Apple Factory Original Equipment Full Fin Heatsinks"

Hmm.. what does "Apple Factory Original" mean? Do they
mean they sourced them from Apple? That they came from
the people that supply the Apple factories? Or that they're
merely manufactured to the same spec?

My guess in red above.

10GB from OWC

I ordered 10G from OWC, 4 x 2Gb and 1 x 2Gb giving me a total of 12Gb, installed last night and just finished running the tests ( memtest, load, temp ) this morning, all OK.

OWC (macsales.com). I used them for the RAM in my MacBook and they work fine. Last week I just ordered 2 more Gigs for my Mac Pro.

I have 4x2 GB for a total of 8 GB from OWC that is humming along in my mac pro without any problems. Idle temps are around 115 degrees Fahrenheit.

I am keeping the 2x1 GB RAM from Apple just in case I ever need to get the mac pro exchanged under warranty.

How do you have them arranged on your risers?

2 512K are in riser A all the way to the back edge
2 2GB are below in riser B right under the original 2 512K

This is what the Apple Store Genius told me when he installed the Airport and BT cards for me. I didn't have the RAM with me. So I just noted his instructions.

He told me that additional RAM would first go in riser A (making if full) and that the last additional RAM would go into to riser B to make both cards full.

He said as long as they were paired the riser A and B RAM didn't have to be the same size.

If anyone has a contrary view let me know as I'd like to make sure I've done this right.

You placed them the way I would place them as that would be consistent with what I've read on most of the posts on Mac Pro ram placement.

What I'm interested in knowing, and your situation presents an opportunity to ask, is: To have 256 memory addressing (may not be the proper term), I've read that you have to have a matched pair of ram in the top riser and matched pair in the bottom riser--both being in the same position on each riser, then do the matched pair on the top riser and the bottom riser have to the same size memory modules to get this 256 memory addressing advantage? In your case you have 2 different sizes.

Well I hope someone in the know can answer this as I would probably plan add more matched sized memory. I wonder how much of a performance increase we are talking about here?

I received my 16GB kit the next day with MemoryAmerica.
Service was great and I got some extra seagate HDs from them, of course WITH a DISCOUNT.
If you don't want to come across a price better than what you paid for, then I recommend MA.

Discounted from what figure?

Another vote for OWC. I got the same kit, but also have the stock ram installed for 10GB. Runs a little warm when I've got a grid computing client running all day, but I have had zero issues with OWC memory.

*reviews invoice

I got a 16GB kit from MA for 689.9 and 2x 750GB Seagates for 347.98.
$1037 + order with an 8% discount = 954 and change.
Told them I'd shop there again too because of their prices.
Thats two and a half full tanks of gas :}
