So if the big release is next year, does that mean those of us who buy the first releases have now swapped places with the S cycle? I feel a bit short changed by that to be honest. This year doesn't look like a big enough upgrade from my iPhone 6 and keeping my phone for an extra year is risky due to screen failures in 2014 devices. Keeping a device for a year is ridiculously expensive and you lose money that way too. I feel a bit screwed over this year to be honest.

Honestly, I haven't been excited for an iPhone since the iPhone 4 days and maybe even the 5S. Once the 6 came out, I decided it was time I didn't need to buy every iPhone model released and skipped the 6 and bought a Nexus 4.

It just kind of seems like an iPhone is an iPhone is an iPhone now. I'll be watching on the 7th to see what they announce but I have no plans on buying this years iPhone. I've kind of started waiting for the S models.

The 7th is going to be a bad day for Apple. Not a surprise Tim Cook cashed in all that stock recently. It's gonna tank pretty bad.

when the average person finds out all their headphones won't work unless they buy an adapter the backlash will be hilarious

it's not common knowledge yet

It maybe worse then the switch to the lightning connector. What was really a slap in the face was apple charged for the adapter.

It's not any kind of knowledge yet as Apple hasn't announced anything about the upcoming iPhone yet.

Could be worse. We could be Android users.
I admit it appears that the upgrades aren't what I was hoping for...but let's compare

S7 Edge vs Note 7

do you realize that the S7 edge came out in March and not September of last year like the 6S?

There is plenty of knowledge, based on supplier info, at least one iPhone 7 photographed in the wild, etc. It might not be wise to bet your life on it, but I'd wager a bit less than that that there will be no headphone jack.

Knowledge tells me a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom tells me not to use it in a fruit salad.

Sure, hairs can certainly be split like that: there's knowledge of rumors/suppositions/etc., there's no knowledge of the actual thing until Apple actually announces it.

You compared the S7 vs the Note 7 but they have different markets to each other. I don't expect the Note 7 to be a successor to the S7 because they have been released so close to each other and are completely different sizes. You should be comparing the Note 5 to Note 7 and the equivalent iPhones for a better balance.

For my upgrade which is overdue now I will compare the iPhone 6S to the iPhone 7. If the 7 only brings a few different colours a faster chip and a better camera, I will get the iPhone 6S and save my money.

No point to have any buzz when there is pretty much nothing to fantastic changed for the 6s. Gotta say, the iPhone 6s+ is one of, if not the worst phone I have ever owned

You're comparing over a one year period. Then you should compare the Note 7 and the Note 5, the S7 and the S6...

It's kinda irrelevant. Typically when a S series comes out it's specs best the last Note. Then when a new Note comes out it (in the past) bested the last S release. That's not the case this year. The battery went backwards and virtually nothing was improved over the S7. A stylus shouldn't differentiate it into another category. The Note used to be in an entirely different beast mostly because it was a behemoth compared to anything else out there. That's certainly not the case anymore only the S pen sets it apart this year.

The size difference between the S7 and the Note 7 is significant enough even if the smaller device has grown in recent years. They are two different categories and I don't compare them the way you do.

I have to say as a multiple iPhone owner and somebody who will still buy iPhones, it's frustrating to see Samsung really pushing their innovation and product design. The S6 was a big wake up call to Apple and I was excited to see them react. All the rumours seem to suggest Apple are still another year away from challenging that. This is the first pre launch that I can remember where I've seen the leaks and don't feel compelled to buy the iPhone, in fact I'm looking more seriously at a year old iPhone to be conservative with my money. It looks like a mildly different iPhone 6 at best and we all wait to see what amazing feature it has to have in order to not be a massive disappointment.

in general, i think it's not fair to compare a device (iP7) that hasn't been released yet, with one that has (Note7), as for the latter there's a lot of marketing material and reviews around, while for the former there are only some leaked specs.
beware of the power of marketing and the many 'sponsored reviews'.
