Why is it so difficult for Apple to implement a system whereby we can browse and store a favourite configuration in readiness for orders going live?
And why is it so difficult for customers to be patient, what for orders to go live, choose what they want and order it ? ;)

Simple. Because it’s convenient and pleasant to browse at your leisure, not something that is possible when there’s a simultaneous global scramble to secure the watch that you want for delivery on launch day. Particularly so when it is known that there are very limited supplies. 1st world problems I know.

Look at the recent iPhone 13 pre-orders as an example. With the iPhone launch it was possible to “favourite” the exact phone that you wanted and even pre-authorise the purchase in advance. Even so, it was very difficult for some to get online when pre-orders opened and there are some buyers still waiting for delivery because they didn’t manage to get their orders in during the first 15 minutes or so.

Don’t tell me there was nothing weird happened to the Apple Watch 7 launch this year. Apple had never launched any Apple Watch generation like this before. One day before pre order and the only pricing info we find on the store is for the Series 6. Clicking the series 7 image redirects us to the website.
It’s not some kind of conspiracy theory, it’s what happened directly in front of our eyes.

Exactly, this is first ever in Apple's history that Apple (under Cook's supervision) deliberately hide all info before the launch day, to create such anxiety to avoid embarrassment to their chaotic supply chain and potential another tank on stock price...

In my opinion it’s not weird …… it’s just different…… in itself of course not a conspiracy theory but the conspiracy theories emerge to explain why something different has happened. The reality is none of us know why it’s different

I get that it’s frustrating for some but there are some on here who feel they have the right to pre select their AW and ‘favourite’ the order just so they can be first in line, likely the very same people who then bitch about other people receiving their device before them blah blah blah.

It’s a different process this time, it’s a first world problem…… suck it up and get used to it.

Very dramatic ;)

No-one is asking for preferential treatment here, just some decent service from a corporation that normally delivers the best of customer experiences.

I, for one, don’t expect to be first in line nor have I ever complained if someone receives their order before I receive mine.

I’ve explained my position in plain English and you, offensively, question my word. I suspect you’re deliberately trolling here. I’ll leave you to it.
I’m not trolling anyone, review any post and it’s generally reasoned common sense which many on here can’t accept. ….. I haven’t been offensive (perhaps show what’s offensive ? ) I’ve simply responded to you ….. and you perhaps don’t like to hear common sense and reason or an alternative view to yours.

@ukms

You aren't being unpleasant but you are very much the sole source of your brand of "reason" in this thread!!

Don't worry about why some people want to pre-select their watch of choice and don't worry about those who want to and even enjoy the process of being there at 1.00pm raring to part with their hard earned cash.

It doesn't suit you? fine. Thats totally fine.

However, what the rest of us are saying is that this particular "pre-order" is very strange for all the reasons that have been discussed so far.

Frustrating too - as this hasn't happened before.

Of course the iPhone 13 was a remarkably pleasant experience where they went a step further than ever before by allowing all but the purchase via the app before pre-orders opened. Very nice. Relaxed... And we go from that experience to a totally different and somewhat backwards approach for the Apple Watch. Cant even see or favourite it let alone sort out payment details.
Its too late now. Tomorrow the store will be down as it always is.
1pm, wil come and we have to quickly navigate our way round the app, find the watch, choose the configuration, and submit the order.

Why? Who knows.

But let the rest of us who want to pre-order have our chat and speculation without looking down your nose at us because you've no interest in the pre-order process.

I have no stake in the conversation (you aren’t talking to me) and I agree that you come off very condescending and like a troll. If that’s not what you are meaning to do, you should pause and reflect.

If true this is ridiculous because it adds to the stress of the pre-order process and also clogs up the system as each person stays on line that much longer trying to decide and order exactly what they want.

I agree with you 100%. But the reps told me they have elected not to show the configurations on their website prior to preorder. It just leads credibility to what people online have been saying about the series 7 being a botched release.

Firstly I’m not in any way ‘worried’ as you put it…… isn’t a forum for people to respectfully have opposing views ? ….. or should it be an echo chamber where people blow smoke up each other ? ….. I always find it mildly amusing that some on here get so whipped up with their sense of entitlement that they then become blind.

I am actually probably as interested as anyone else about the pre order process because like many others I like to buy the latest tech. However what I don’t do is get bent out of shape because the process doesn’t fit the way ‘I’ think it should happen.

If I’ve offended anyone or been perceived as condescending by someone who is sensitive then I humbly apologise ….. never my intention.

I also suspect that it will lead people to buy multiple options to try to get release day delivery, to defer a final decision on their favorite, etc. This will further strain limited supply and lead to a lot of waste on the return side of things.

Unforced errors.

Like you guys I would sure like to know what my options are before I wake up at 4:45 am tomorrow. My wife wants an SS with braided loop. I want a graphite SS with Milanese. The Milanese isn't even showing as available right now. I'm expecting to get on tomorrow and either find an unresponsive website, the configurator not available yet, or the options we want not in stock. Hope I'm wrong.

I have many questions which won’t be answered until 10 hours from now. That said, Fall/Autumn Apple launches have been part of my life for many years. I love them and all things Apple. This has been the strangest launch of any product, ever! This withholding of information compounds the 7 reveal in September that they stupidly made with no availability date.

I’m not sure why but I feel manipulated somehow with their game playing. This will be the first pre-order I pass on. Sticking with my 5SS until I’ve read all forthcoming reviews.

Maybe all the leakers were right - there was a complete redesign for this year. Apple is just toying with everyone. Tomorrow morning the Apple website will update and it will be of the leaked design that everyone was hoping for in the first place. Hence why they never provided any specs or real details about the watch on their website. :)

People typically preorder because of trust. We trust that Apple products meet a certain standard, that colors and finishes tend to look even better in person than online, and that Apple has anticipated and solved most issues that otherwise would be frustrating.

The new Apple Watch may end up being great, but this just doesn't seem like the year to trust that everything will work as expected.

I hope not.
That made up leaked design looked awful.... not everything needs to look like an iPad - and in the case of an apple watch a flat sided design would not work well on the wrist. Shirt sleeves would get caught on it etc etc.
Plus, ive no desire to have something that looks like a lego brick strapped to my wrist.

The 7, as is, looks fine to me.

If only they would tell us what we are pre ordering.. that would be nice.

However, back on topic:

Here we are. Pre order day is here.... and never before have I seen that the apple store is still up and open.. with the 7 still nowhere to be seen. The 6 is still the current watch. Without taking the store down.. how do they intend to make the 7 available to order??

Very, very strange. And not in a good way.

Its super weird how Apple is doing this release , only reason I can think of is that supply is extremely limited and they don't want too much hype and disappointed customers.

Something is deeply wrong with Apple.....can smell it w/o nose...
