Bring a shank with you... or a big ass friend.. or a gun...

And bring a fake iphone if you have it.. so.. u cant hand that to him first.. and if he runs.. then u know he was tryna scam u.. but if he makes everything smooth... just get the money first then.. then give him the phone.. when your already in your car.. then just bounce

Craigslist. Also, kill two birds with one stone while you're at it and find a nice young lady (or man, whatever floats that boat) to meet you there that way you have something to spend your newly earned money on right away!

last night on ebay someone got a 32gb iphone 4 unlocked fore $810.55 USD

And eBay pocketed about $80 from that sale. And that's not including whatever Paypal fees they took. My guess is it was probably around $120 that the seller loses out on. eBay is a complete rip off nowadays

eBay only takes $50 maximum on auctions. PayPal takes 2-3% of the payment. So he lost about $75? Anyways, I backed out. I didn't really want to risk anything after the guy refused to meet me somewhere else. Sent off some red flags, but now I have to find another buyer >.>

I would say it depends on his "Store". If the guy does have a legitimate store in a strip mall or something I wouldn't be totally skeptical. But if its a windowless warehouse in an industrial park...might wanna turn around and drive home.

IMO I would sell something like this via eBay/Paypal and rest assured that while I may pay a few dollars in fees, I am gonna have my ass covered if something goes wrong. Just my $.02.

Unfortunatly that isn't true. The ball is completely in the buyers court as far as eBay and paypal are concerned.
All a buyer needs to do is say you send the box empty etc and you will most likely be forced to give the money back.
They have become really one sided. Once upon a time I would agree and say eBay was the best place to sell anything.

As long as you meet at a public place and see the cash first, you are 100% fine. Even at that guy's store I'd say you are fine as well. I've sold probably close to 10 different devices on craigslist and nothing has ever gone wrong...just be smart about it.

Also, this is off topic, but how are these selling for 800? Could one not do the following?:

have an iphone 3g, upgrade to the iphone 4 for 300, take the sim and put it back into the 3g, unlock the 4, sell the 4 for 800? There has to be something I'm missing here, right?

You could do that. But note that you'd have to buy another SIM since the Micro-SIM wouldn't fit into the 3G. You could use a Micro SIM adapter but I don't think they're very stable in all honesty. The price is going to fall a lot in the coming weeks since they'll be a lot easier to get a hold of.

Yeah thats true. I'm not even remotely considering doing that myself I was just curious as to the possibility of it.

Sold half a dozen iPhones on eBay to places as far away as Ukraine and Indonesia for big bucks and zero hassles. Get confirmed funds in hand, make 'em pay for tracking to confirmed addresses. Easy as pie.

Don't buy the anti eBay hype here.
