I would recommend the SSUBX drive. It's an NVMe drive whereas the SSUAX is an AHCI drive. Performance of the SSUBX should be approximately twice that of the SSUAX drive.

Hi pl1984. Yup I'm looking at the SSUBX.

My question though is about having a heatsink or not. The one that comes with the Mac Pro has a heatsink, but some of the SSUBX drives I see don't have a heatsink (like the ones from MBP).

I'm assuming I should get the SSUBX with the heatsink yeah?

Doesn't really matter but the SSUBX is still AHCI. It is the newer SSPolaris that is nvme - https://beetstech.com/product/solid-state-drive-1tb

For the other question: Yes, get the SSUBX with the heatsink. It is one of the fastest for the nMP and the heatsink is there to help with sustained operations. You can push it harder before it heats up and slows down.

I believe saulinpa is correct in that the SSUBX drive is still AHCI. I was equating SSUBX with the generation five drives (see article) which are NVMe based and can be used in the Mac Pro.
