If I'm mistaken, weren't the driver's for the GTX 480 slipped in a couple weeks back?

I wonder if Apple will offer an EVGA GTX 480 upgrade kit like they did with the GTX 285.

Thoughts?

I think they went with the same board that has 2 6-Pin PCI-E connections. With that, the best we are going to see is a GTX 470. Lets wait for EVGA to bring them out.

Unlikely, considering the specs state it can do 2xHD5770. Not sure how many pins those 'eat' but I suspect more than two 6-pins.

Apple knows the truth. Fermi cards are a huge waste of resources. Biggest GPU flop ever since the FX series.

those drivers were from Nvidia, not apple. the ATI drivers were from a mac mini image. that's why we're getting ATI cards from apple, and probably Nvidia cards from EVGA. the drivers were being "hacked" for use with an aty_init to support the 480, and the power cabling will need one 6-pin to 8-pin converter.

read the specs from apple.com/macpro/features/graphics.html more closely.
at the bottom of the chart it says how many auxiliary power cables each card uses.
