For me it depends on the following 3 things:
  1. Does Apple offer the same $800 trade-in deal as last year?
  2. Does Apple keep the price of the 14 Pro Max the same at $1100?
  3. Does the 14 Pro Max have improvements that make the upgrade worth it? (brighter screen, longer battery life, noticeably better cameras)
If I can upgrade to the 14 Pro Max via trade in deal and it only costs me $300 out of pocket then I’m down to upgrade, as long as condition #3 above is met.

If either of the first 2 conditions doesn’t work out then I’ll most likely just get The monthly AppleCare+ for my 13 Pro Max and keep it long term as it’s a truly fantastic phone that I am very happy with 🙂

1. I think they will.
2. I hope so.
3. So far I think its a generational upgrade of the A chip, and the cutout instead of the notch.

Thanks for the explanation, I am in the same boat really.

the 13 Pro is an amazing phone

If the front camera update rumour is real, I am getting it. I need it for work. I wish USB-C was also coming this year

I agree with these statements, and I will add one more condition for myself.
4. The 14 Pro Max can't weigh any more than the 13 Pro Max. I am carrying the biggest/heaviest phone I am willing to carry. If it's even 1 gram heavier, it is out of consideration for me. The 13 Pro Max is a pig and it needs to go on a diet. 🤣

Probably not unless they blow me away at the keynote. I still have my 12 pro max so I could trade in/sell both and it wouldn’t cost much. I’m trying to hold out until be periscope lenses come. I only upgraded from the 12 pro max because the battery had gotten really bad.

For anyone that may know, is this a US based only offer? I don’t recall seeing such an offer in the UK from Apple themselves last year but I may have just missed it.

The one I got was through Verizon. I don't know if there were any Apple ones

I think I will upgrade Ill keep taking the Qualcomm modems until apple put there’s in then I’ll wait .

Not interested in the 14. I do not see anything that jumps out at me. Probably will go with the 15. Upgrading every year is too expensive anyway.

Most likely not. Doesn't seem like there will be anything compelling for me, but we'll see.

It would have to be a massive upgrade in order for me to consider it. And no...the elimination of the "notch" is not enough to do it, especially since there is reportedly going to still be something in that area. If that's the case, I'm not sure why that's so exciting.

I was able to get $1000 of credit toward my 13 Pro Max, which made it a very cheap upgrade for me. I don't see any reason at this point to consider a 14.

These phones are wayyy to expensive to upgrade every year… I’m not upgrading until Christmas of 2023/2024 based off how evolutionary the iPhone 15/16 are… and at Christmas time they’ll offer you $1000 credit for your old phone anyway 🤷🏾‍♂️
